How about 0 minutes? http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=630263 Kovy out tonight with a lower body injury =[
-
My original quote said only that it is unlike Kovy to play only 20 mins a game, which it clearly is (cause he averages 24). I'm not off base in anyway what so ever, you were foolish to try and correct me without checking your facts first. On top of that, 2 minutes (or even 6, because you said 18-22) is huge in a playoff game, you should know that. But my point was never that he was playing 2 less minutes, it was that he is INJURED.
-
No, you were just wrong. Own it, buddy.
-
LOL you criticize me for correcting your two minute difference (which is actually a substantial amount of time in hockey if you've ever played before)...but you're the one who called me out without even getting your facts straight. Ignorant and rude, as always Volo. Not to mention you were actually 5 minutes off if we're talking about the playoffs (WHICH WE ARE LMAO) sources: http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8469454&view=splits

Well you'd be wrong to doubt that then! He averaged 24:26 during the regular season. He was playing 25+ in every game against FLA. The kicker is that he played 27 mins in game 1 against FLA, but then played 27 minutes in game 7...which went to double OT. His TOI has significantly decreased (only played 21 mins against philly today) and it's most certainly due to him nursing that injury.
-
Wouldn't surprise me if Kovy wasn't playing with something similar. He looks like a horse with a broken leg out there...He's slow and unresponsive, and it just isn't like him to only be playing 20 minutes a game.
-
Only Kovalchuk? I don't doubt the Flyers offense or anything but NJ also has Parise (30+ goals), Clarkson (30+ goals), and Patrik Elias who was top 10 in the league in scoring. Anyway, the game today went pretty well for NJ minus the losing in OT part....But that would have been our 3rd straight OT win so I wasn't expecting much. Sucks we couldn't steal that first road game but if we can grab the second from Philly, that'd be awesome. Most important thing to take away from today's game was that the Devils CAN score on Bryzgalov (he only allowed 1 goal against to NJ in 3 games played this season, he won all 3). That, and Kovalchuk is playing with some type of severe injury. He's a non-factor out there right now and you can see it. I know everyone is playing with some sort of injury this time of year but it really seems like something more than that for Kovy.

Kings/Blues: Blues in 6 Preds/Coyotes: Preds in 5 Devils/Flyers: Devils in 7. Wishful thinking, obviously. Rangers/Caps: Caps in 7.
-
Sure they do! Don't they? I really have no idea. Hope so. Flyers v. Devils now...I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about this match up. We tied the season series 3-3 but something about the Flyers in the playoffs scares me. Hopefully Bryzgalov plays poorly ^_________^. Also, (tho I feel bad about why he isn't in the lineup) the Devils are pretty lucky Pronger isn't on the roster anymore...

I. Am. Glad. That's. Over. 20 of us gathered around a TV, the house nearly exploded when Henrique buried the gamewinner. Do they take playoff performance into account when looking at the Calder trophy? Cause our ROTY candidate just scored 2 goals including the 2OT winner in game 7. Pretty impressive.

Two game 7s tonight. I think the Sens are capable of beating the Rangers but doing it in MSG is gonna be tough. I'm not even going to discuss the Devils game until it's over because it's still 4 hours until game time and I have a nervous shake going.
-
BOOM! Zajac gets the OT winner and we force game 7. 3 game 7s in the East...not to shabby for the first round.
-
I've got money riding on the Blues, Sens, Caps, and Devils in my fraternity's playoff pool.
-
devils are all but done. They have to win a game 6 in jersey and then a 7 in Florida. wonder if they have it in them. time for kovy to show us what he's made of.
-
Devils make a statement win with a big 4-0 win. Hopefully we can steal the next game on the road and close it out at home. Caps won too...Ovechkin played less than 3 minutes in the third period but there was no mention of injury during post-game interviews with Ovi/head coach. Interesting. They're still tied 2-2 but disrespecting your captain like that is probably a pretty bad idea.
-
Tonight seems pretty make-or-break for the Devils. Going down 3-1 heading back to Florida would be pretty horrible. We stole a road game early in the series and now they've stolen won too...tying it up tonight would leave us with just having to win one more road game...

where did the "torturechips" nickname come from? I don't get it

Too soon for jokes Gorth! People died! And the deaths of those on board are just the tip of the iceberg! Think of all the families that were torn apart before you make offensive puns!
-
Jersey went up 3-0 in the first after firing 26 shots on net at the end of 1. Panthers came back and made it 3-2 in the second but we were able to hold on. Marty looked like Marty and we got all three goals from our "secondary" scoring...Waiting for Parise/Kovy/Zajac to break out but for now we survived.
-
So then you DO consider them a joke franchise...? Please don't use flawed logic. It's rude.
-
saw that hahahaha hilarious. oh and another great night of hockey.

Weber, right? I think it's pretty ridiculous that the League fines Torterella $20,000 for his 'comments' and then a mere $2,500 for Weber's potentially season ending attack on Zetterberg. That hook he threw first reminded me of Bertuzzi's first swing on Moore. It looks like Zetterberg kind of ducked it but had he not had his head on a swivel that could have been terrible. I hate how the league takes into consideration that Zetterberg wasn't injured on the play...It's as if to say they're just going to wait and allow this stuff to happen until someone get's seriously hurt. I don't understand the logic.

Wow. What an awesome night to start off the playoffs. Philly comes back from down 3 goals to win it in OT...LA upsets Vancouver and Nashville takes down the Red Wings. Watch all three games, Philly/Pittsburgh didn't disappoint but I thought the LA game was best. here's hoping Shea Weber gets a 2 games suspension for his classless act at the end of the game...really lost a lot of respect for him as a player tonight. here it is if you haven't seen it. watch him throw a hook to the side of Zetterberg's head and then take his face and slam it into the boards. This was all with like 3 seconds left in a game that Weber was about to win. What the hell man. Might have just cost his team the series if he goes out for 2 games...

What will REALLY be interesting is when the Islanders can put together a decent season (which could be as soon as next year). There's a high possibility all 5 teams from the Atlantic Division will be in the playoffs
-
Who are you guys pulling for? My predictions don't match who I'm rooting for...Obviously the Devils are my Eastern Conference team. In the West I'm pulling for the Sharks and the Coyotes.
