5th beautiful sunny day here in Montreal, I've been working hard... on my tan. I'm studying for the final exam of my Theoretical Computer Science class while lounging by my pool. I just came inside for a few minutes to cool off and get a drink. I'm waiting for my father to get home so I can drive to the gym and do my week's 4th muscle training, biceps and back. Tonight, band practice...

Oh, I've played that game Giggidy!
-
I just wanna say to those of you who recommended Baldur's Gate (2) for me to play........ Thank you.

Let it all out! Rawr!

Yep. I had that problem. Albeit I didn't download any patches. Teehee.

Sounds like good advice for any long-lasting relationship. Maybe someday I'll cool my independent ways and settle down like that.

A man who knows when to shut up. I like you already. But I'm not ready for you to do that quite yet. Aside from that C++ OpenGL game I'll be making, you're right, I probably should make a J2ME game to add to my portfolio. I'm sure programming as part of a team must be challenging. I imagine a lot of the cohesion comes from good communication between the programmers and their leader. Anyway, send me a pm if you wanna talk some more!

Thanks for the advice. I'll be taking what they call 'Computer Graphics' class within the next schoolyear, it's a class in which you program a 3d game in C++ using (I believe) OpenGL libraries. I really hope that from that class on I'll be able to refine a more game-oriented coding technique.

It's going to sound pathetic, but it was the catalyst to our breakup. Still, it wasn't meant to be. Dating a non-gamer, well, is never meant to be.

As a recovering WoW addict, I really don't suggest getting into mmo's unless you've got time to spare. Heh, I fondly remember how my significant other of 2 and a half years jokingly said to me the day I bought WoW: "A game that never ends? Oh my god, I'll never see you again." ... Yeah. It was close to true.

Canadian prisons are a joke. A joke with cable TV.

Hrm... I should reinstall Bloodlines, too. I was too addicted to World of Warcraft at the time to really get into VtM:B. And no, I'm not an XBot. Cool! I can always use more clothes and more hairstyles!

I'd love to work for a game development company. I'm not entirely sure what position to aim for, though. I suppose initially what I would have to bring to the table are some decent programming skills, handiness with Databases, good 2d arts skills, writing skills, and some voice acting (a more recent venture). Ideally I'll be able to come to a mutually beneficial understanding with a company that has a need I can happily fulfill! Slightly less ideal but more realistic, I'll start at the bottom of the chain somewhere and work my way up (and I assume, come closer to figuring out exactly which position I would excel at along the way).

I didn't download any of the patches, bad me. I'd definitely be interested in new AI. Maybe I should replay - evil male side this time.

The programming language of choice at my university has been Java. I guess that makes it my favorite just because its the one I'm most comfortable with. I rather wish they'd taught us C++ instead, though I've taught myself a bit of it. (Other than that, I've dabbled in Scheme, Ruby and Aspect J) And yourself? Mmm linear algebra... for some reason, I didn't mind that course so much.

Ha! I had 0 influence with Grobnar. Funniest part was the fight after the trial. He was saying something along the lines of, "If I were inspired, I'd sing a song right now.... Nope." I always took Kelghar (and Shandra) with me to tank, and a wizard for DPS. I've played too much WoW, it's really influenced my tactics. I even made the mistake of thinking making a rogue would give me more DPS than a warrior.

From what I read, Gothic 2 requires a monster machine? I'll check out Deus. I finished Oblivion. Thanks! I won't hold it against you that my first post in this thread was saying I just finished NWN 2 I've played about 30 minutes of JE when I was hanging out at a friend's. It looks decent enough, I just haven't been feeling oriental in the slightest lately. I want some pew pew lasers, or some elves and wizards! I know, picky picky. I'm as picky with my games as I am with my dates!

Right... though discrete mathematics wasn't my favorite part of the curriculum =\

I just got blown away by a new game-Etrian Odyssey

Awesome! I was looking for a good game to get for my DS. Thanks for the tip! -
Interesting list, Sand. I know, it's going to make me sound incredibly superficial, but I can't seem to get into old games after playing more recent ones. I can't seem to get immersed in the pixelated world. And I've really grown attached to hearing a voice rather than having to read, it makes all the difference in realism. So I'm having doubts about Planescape, despite the great things I've heard. But I will get myself a copy of BG2. I'll start there.

Well, I am a sucker for good stuff. I think I will!

Did... did she just say 'ah bukkake'? o_O

I just finished Neverwinter Nights 2. My only regret is that I didn't find most of the dialogue to be very engaging. The NPCs liked to talk about themselves sometimes, but I didn't feel like they were 'bonding' with my character (save for Shandra). Also - I can't believe my potential romantic interests were Bishop (jerk) or Casavir (nice guys... finish last). I should've played a male. Anyway, I was happy enough with it to be sad that it ended. I have no clue what to play now. I'm all about story, interesting characters, and the ability to change the outcome through my actions. My friend keeps telling me to play Baldur's Gate. I wonder if I'll be able to get into such an old game, so pixelated and with little voice-acting. I have FFXII, I should get around to playing that, too. I did a bit though, and it seems fairly linear like all FF's. I get to follow along with the story, but I don't determine it. I guess that used to be okay, when I was younger, but not anymore. I know this surely gets uttered frequently, but I wish I had Kotor3 at my disposal now

Q_Q No. RPG maker by day, rockstar by night? A girl can dream!

If it's any art or performance field, I vote ban. Oh? You've got a problem with art or performance? We're gonna have some trouble then, because I'm definitely into art AND performing. But - as far as school is concerned, I'm doing a Bachelor of Computer Science.
