  1. People playing from the harddrive are probably pirating the game. And if it doesn't work for them, oh well. Pirating is bad enough, but you don't pirate from a start-up RPG house. That's triple bad karma. I've considered moving the game to my HDD simply because I have a Thompson DVD drive and I was getting a lot of disc read errors, but I cleaned the optics and I seem to be doing better now.
  2. I would like to see a new engine since this will likely be an XBox 2 game. No longer restricted by the XBox's capabilities, I expect a bit more. In both the Star Wars movies and novels you have groups of heroes in multiple locations handling different things, converging at the end. I'd like to see both Revan and the Exile as leads in KOTOR:3. One leads one team on side of the galaxy, and the other leads the other team on the other side of the galaxy. In the beginning of the game, you choose which team takes the Ebon Hawk and goes where. Imagine the replay value of playing different alignments, and taking different NPCs to different worlds. In the end of the game, the two converge. Will they both be of the same alignment and have the same goals? Will they be of opposite alignments and have different goals? What will bring them together? I want ragdoll physics. I want every object in the level to respond to physics. When I use the Force, I want it to affect the area around me. I want to have an epic space battle that I affect and take part in. I'd like to see the Source engine, or the Oblivion engine. Both come with mod tools in tow, both have portability in mind, both have physics and incredible graphics.
  3. Fable wouldn't even allow you to play a female character. No RPG can be truly ground breaking and not even let you pick gender.
  4. What was in KOTOR:1 was silly. My girlfriend played female/DS. Carth would say, "you're really cute when you're mad", and then you'd kill an innocent person. He'd ofcourse help out, and then chastise you for being a bad person. Then after he chided you for slaughter (after helping) he'd then hit on you again. It was horrible.
  5. I found Carth largely annoying in KOTOR:1 regardless of whether I played LS or DS. The overall storyarch of KOTOR was quite good, but there were very few well realized characters.
  6. The best part of RoTJ is when Luke forgot he was a whiny Skywalker and showed some cajones to Jabba.
  7. I still consider Fallout to be a top 5 RPG of all time. But I don't like that one aspect.
  8. Great news! All hail Akari! (BTW, that's a scary picture of Carrie Fisher. I know she did a lot of coke back then, but her smile is downright frightening).
  9. Ultima was a tile-based overhead RPG (save for the first-person dungeons) from Aklabeth to Ultima V. In Ultima IV they completely changed the "kill the baddie" format and reinvented cRPGs. Ultima V added many tiny improvements. Ultima VI meant another new engine, and moused based dungeon crawling. People went nuts at how RPGs don't use mice. Next thing you know, people fell in love with the idea. Ultima VII again completely reinvented the system. Ultima VIII removed the party, changed stat progression, removed the familiar world, replaced the magic system with 4 different magic systems in one game. Ultima IX made another boat load of changes and went 3D. If Ultima IX was a finished game, it might be truly great. Change can be good. Change does not always destroy a series. If Ultima merely made sequels the way the Might and Magic games did, or Wizardy games did, where would we be? We know nothing about Fallout. We suspect it may be real time. We suspect is may be first person. We don't know that yet.
  10. I've never spent more than $150 on a video card, and never came across a game I couldn't play.
  11. I can't even wash my eyeballs out because that's an internal vision.
  12. Fallout was great, except that it penalized you for exploration and doing side quests.
  13. I'm going pure dueling/single blade this time through.
  14. I'm curious how many people are hitting the bugs. I'm sure there are tons of people who was enjoying the game, and don't feel the need to create a forum account just to bitch. Conversely, on a support forum, I think we see more than our fair share of complaints.
  15. Some has said they don't understand the inlfuenece system, or that it's imperfect. I haven't seen anyone say they outright hate it. As far as "getting the Star Wars mythos", we get in the first few fours. Last I hear MCA got near obsessive about immersion in the Star Wars universe, and it shows.
  16. Good point. I'm curious how much of that Obsidian sees? I doubt Feargus is sitting around saying "billions" like Carl Sagan just yet.
  17. To the Obsidian dev's, some of us actually quite like the game.
  18. You're fired.
  19. Have you taken Dueling or Two-Weapon Fighting as feats yet? Dueling = single blade Two-Weapon = dual blade, or two sabers Dual Blade seems to be better than two sabers for most reasons. You can put the best upgrades into one saber. And the smaller off-hand saber does less damage, where as the dual-blade saber does the same damage on both attacks.
  20. Can I get a Pike of Derailing?
  21. Like I said, take the top 8 teams and throw them in the top bowls. I also said I'd support a plus-one game. But say a full round of playoffs with 16 teams would horribly extend the system, and no one is just going to abandon the bowl system anyway. The real problem is the conference ties to BCS berths. Just take the top 8 teams. Someone was complaining that the Rose Bowl should be able to demand a Pac 10 and Big 10 team, but again, that discounts which team is most deserving of going. Which is more important, tradition or rewarding the best teams with the best possible match-ups?
  22. Does the Radeno 9550 have full Direct X 9 optimization like the 9600 and above series cards have?
  23. KOTOR:2 has a boat-load of improvements that so many people discount out of hand. New Lightsaber upgrades. Lightsaber forms Influence system Random loot MUCH better dialogue A real dark side path Tons more replay value Weapon switching on the fly More force powers The new workbench - this is huge Much better skill implementation. Every attribute and skill is worthwhile now. How are people calling KOTOR a 10/10 and calling KOTOR:2 a 6/10 when KOTOR:2 has so many improvements?
  24. If someone considers either Fable or KOTOR:1 a 10/10, then I don't value their opinion too highly. Regardless you completely discount all of KOTOR:2's improvements out of hand. You really aren't fair. Be more realistic with your expectations.
