I love Dead Ringers. It's a bit like the thinking man's impression show with all that satirical comedy

Last night I saw the trailer for the new film War of the Worlds. It opens with the narration of "No one would have believed, in the early years of the 21st century, that human affairs were being watched..." The only problem was it was some American with a gruff voice saying it, and it just doesn't work! If anyone has heard the Jeff Wayne musical version, and the incredible narration by Richard Burton, the gruff American voice is almost laughable.... One of the major reasons for this I think is that the passage being read has been adapted from the book, which was written in 1898. It was well written, and I personally cannot imagine any American (no offence) talking in such a dialect. It is for this reason, as well as several others, that I cannot see this film living up to the legend that is War Of The Worlds.

Someone should make a War of the Worlds thread before I ruin this one completely

I think his classical scores have been overused by Spielberg and GL. Get some heavy metal!

Since the music from that version isn't (as far as I'm aware) in the new film, I do not see how the new film can do anything but suck. You can't have War of the Worlds without the "DUN-DUN-DUN...DUN-DUN-DUN" theme tune. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I totally agree with you How is a film like that going to suceed, when there was classic music they could have bought and used, making the film at least 10 times better!
