  1. Uh.. Are you nuts? Or gay? I'm as far from gay you can be... It just that I'm not particularly keen on blondes. Some people have a mentality that if you're blond you're automatically beautiful. That's just BS. Of course, there *are* good looking blondes, but there are way more good looking brunettes. Jag *
  2. I like greeneyed redheads and brunettes. Blondes are rarely lookers.
  3. I really loved Rainbow Six (haven't played Lockdown nor Vegas yet though) but it contained some moments where the AI was showing off its brilliance, especially doors could be very dangerous opponents...
  4. I didn't notice ArmA was out already... Another game on my buy list.
  5. Indeed. Still the king of realistic FPSes.
  6. Well, hello Gorth. Nice to see a familiar skull... I was a tad too young for RPGs when SSI released classics like Curse of the Azure Bonds and Death Knights of Krynn (I was 11 years when DKoK was released though, so, maybe I could've started there but oh well). Of past and present: 1. Black Isle 2-4: Bioware, Troika, Obsidian
  7. If you head there quickly, yes. But I usually do all quests in towns before that landing at 15+ levels or so... I dislike taking short cuts just to get something from the game. The only justification to get it early is to . It doesn't no. Interestingly enough, the FO1 manual actually gives the right information...
  8. I usually start with 6. It's nice to have 8 when you get Sniper. Besides, if you're going to take it Better Crits at level 9 you might (will probably) NOT have +2 to LU yet...
  9. Indeed. Plus most Blizzard vids but I especially like the ones from StarCraft.
  10. There are a couple of perks that require LU 6 but Slayer isn't one of them... Toughness, Better Criticals and Bonus Ranged Damage comes in mind.
  11. Blues Creation - Demon & Eleven Children
  12. Or you can just show them in the game. That's like having the game tell you "this is a game". Destroys the illusion that the game is something more. Of course, FO2 managed to have plenty of moments where it manages to tell you it's a game but I prefer when games don't do that.
  13. Oh, that one. Well, American films made before 1967 almost never contain gore or nudity. Of course, there might be some mature themes, but I haven't seen that film.
  14. Are decapitations and dismemberments appropriate entertainment for 12 year old kiddies? (There was some minor nudity too but "strangely" enough I find it more appropriate for minors than gore and violence...)
  15. The game is capped at level 21. However, in order to reach that you must do some XP hunts on the world map. I still usually end up somewhere between level 17-19 even when not XP hunting. Overall, I like FO2 more. It's improves so many things: more weapons, more weapon upgrades, more quests, more Speech options (I always tag Speech in FO2), more sex, more (and better) joinable NPCs, more of everything and then some, really. Unfortunately that includes bugs too... (Although FO1 had actually more "talking heads"...) While FO1 was more story-focused (and I actually liked the story more in the first game) and generally tighter I think it was a tad too short (on the other hand, FO2 might be a tad too long). Nevertheless, both are great games. As for the manuals, I like when they're well-written and provide something else then a tutorial to how to play the game. The Fallout manuals are great.
  16. I think the newest re-release has both FOs in the same package. Personally, I have the first versions bought sometime back in '98, they came in those large cardboard boxes (although they take much place, I like them more than the DVD boxes games come in nowadays, at least they used to print large manuals for the games back then, now you get to read the manual on the disc instead, annoying), my FO1 disc got scratched though, so I bought a new one a couple of years ago. Unfortunately my FO2 version is the UK version without children, but some nice soul on the net has made a fix for it.
  17. Redux is interesting to watch if you've already seen the film, but I prefer the shorter version, makes the trip darker and kind of more claustrophobic, if that makes any sense. The Redux version throws in stuff between the river journey which alters the flow quite much. Saw Casino Royale (2006) today.
  18. I know that, but I had expected the bonii to be cumulative, both from Sniper perk and from aimed shot. So, does Sniper override the critical chance calculations for aimed shots? It almost felt like I delivered more insta-death criticals to the eyes before I took Sniper than after (with Luck of eight)... That would explain why bursting almost always results in a critical hit. How does the calculations work, does it roll the chance for each bullet then applies the critical hit only to the bullets that made the roll? In that case I presume they all get the same critical result (invidual bullets don't get different critical results).
  19. Just a suggestion. Could be just a coincidence. Although, it seems Unarmed combat gives more criticals then Melee but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere. Also, in my experience when you have the Sniper perk it gives almost always a critical with burst but less so with aimed shots which is funny since aimed shots should have a higher chance of critical anyway. I know there are aiming bonuses for some ranged weapons, all shotguns get +20% to hit percentage for instance. Haven't noticed much about melee weapons except some have the knockback ability. I played FO2 recently. I recommend installing fixpack.
  20. Okay, but I haven't visited the Obsidian forums more than once or twice after registering... I had hoped it would be more like the old IPLY forums but that's not really the case.
  21. You can always set combat difficulty to Rough (I usually do)... And limit armour usage to exclude Power Armour. Or otherwise penalize the game to make it more difficult. How do you know Sledge has 'larger criticals' (do you mean better or more criticals?) btw? And does anyone know if there's any difference besides the AP cost on the two different attacks the sledge allows?
  22. I didn't find it boring but the graphics *are* bad. Why make it a 3D game when StarCraft (and WarCraft II) looked much better in 2D...?
  23. I'm waiting for the following games: ArmA: Armed Assault Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway Hellgate: London Medal of Honor: Airborne Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 Btw, clicking View New Posts gave me 332 pages since last time...
  24. While the Sledgehammer looks cool it's not the greatest weapon. Why? It has good range (2 hexes) and good damage for an early weapon, however, the AP cost is +1 compared to Combat Knife (which makes more damage btw) and it makes less damage than Sharpened Spear (which also has 2 hex range and 4 AP cost). Early on I'd rather use either a Combat Knife or Sharpened Spear than Sledgehammer. Later on Ripper, Wakizashi Blade, 'Lil Jesus', Louisville Slagger, Super Cattle Prod and Super Sledge are all good choices. Then again, I mostly use a build of Fast Shot trait + Bonus ROF + 2x Bonus Ranged Damage + Better Criticals + Sniper combined with Bozar or Vindicator to get by in the wastelands. Somehow it makes more sense to shot the enemies into chunky pieces from afar than to run towards them with a knife in hand...
