  1. HaHa, I finally have my game working thanks to the fine folks over at the Lucas Arts forums.... Actually, they just told me to update drivers. After getting tired of that, I switched from my very old Aureal card to the intergrated sound on the motherboard and the game booted right up.
  2. Well, I got the game installed, but it still won't run as I get a Windows error when I try to play. I've posted my issues over at Lucas Arts. We'll see how that goes.
  3. Know what really chaps my ass. I decided to buy a new copy of the game...and I'm still having problems. Really sucks cause I was able to play the game on this machine when I first got it. At least KOTOR runs as smooth as a whistle.
  4. With bad grammar, never trust a bartender.
  5. My theory was always that Revan chopped it off when it was decided who was the master. But yes, Malak lost his lower jaw. I believe there is a scene where you see him without his jaw. As for why I can't stand Malak. He's a coward. First, he stabs Revan in the back by attacking his ship while Revan was prepared to take on four Jedi at once. Then when Revan reaches the Star Forge, he sends everything available at Revan, then he sends Bastila, then he sends more droids, then surrounds himself with dead Jedi before fighting Revan. And he still couldn't win.
  6. Lord Nihilus: <too good for subtitles> That's why he's the man.
  7. My theory.... There is no such thing as "true sith." As Kreia put it, the Sith are a philosophy, not a race. Revan just used it as an excuse because he started to regain memories from his times as Lord Revan and became so wrapped up in guilt, that he ran away from his problems, leaving everyone he knew and loved behind.
  8. For storyline purposes, I would bring back Vandar. Yoda survived Order 66, and I'm sure Vandar is just as resilient as our little green friend from the movies (and probably hides just as well). We need a true master to lead this ragtag group. Revan is still a Knight, as is the Exile. Bastila is technically still a Padawan (though she would probably gain Knight status after KOTOR1, that is if she wasn't looked down upon for falling to the dark side), and then you have a bunch of people running around with a copy of the Idiots Guide to Being a Jedi in their back pocket. So come up with Vandar going into exile on some swamp planet somewhere in the galaxy.
  9. I always felt that with KOTOR3, you should play as a Padawan in the rebuilding Jedi Order after the events of KOTOR2 and have the game take place like 5-10 years after KOTOR2. I had a storyline thought out, but I don't feel like typing it out on here, unless you guys want to hear it. Yes, Revan and Exile would be in it, but they would be in the background more than anything else, except towards the end in the climactic battle to save the Republic. Yes, KOTOR has always been about being able to play LS or DS, but it just doesn't make much sense playing DS.
  10. Try to make connections between real life and kotor. You call your college professor a meatbag.
  11. Who says he is still alive? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I do.
  12. I can still remember what I said to myself when Bastila said "I love you" in the Star Forge... "I know."
  13. Let's look at each one... Darth Revan - Great tactical leadership. Turned legions of people to the dark side. Began the Jedi Civil War. Was stabbed in the back by his apprentice. Became Jedi Knight Revan again and fell in love with Bastila, which nets him several brownie points. Darth Malak - Unleashes great vengeance and furious anger. Destroyed the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine. However, he's a wuss because he couldn't face Revan like a man. First, launches surprise attack. Then sends the entire Star Forge at Revan, before finally facing him in final combat. Even then, surrounded himself with dead Jedi to feed off to try and outlast Revan. Despite all that, couldn't avoid his untimely end. Darth Traya - The great manipulator. Used the exile to draw the last remaining Jedi Masters to one place and promptly killed them all. Tried to kill the force. Darth Sion - The guy was a walking zombie. Unfortunately, he went all emo there at the end with the help of the exile, and fell apart. Darth Nihilus - The guy nearly destroyed the Jedi Order in one fell swoop from the shadows. Thinks he's too good for subtitles. Unfortunately, 20 seconds of face time detracts from his value. Shoot, Admiral Ozzel got more face time in Empire Strikes Back, though he was gagging for over half of it. Considering that Revan was the only Sith Lord who is still living at the time, I guess it would be fair to say that he was the best Sith Lord.
  14. I finally got around my installation problem (I copied discs 2,3, and 4 directly to the hard drive, and installed that way), but the game still doesn't work. I guess now its time to keep downloading drivers till I find a set that works. This is ticking me off, as the game worked perfectly fine several months ago.
  15. Okay, I decided to reinstall again, and I ran into the same problem, only this time, I documented what happened. I put in disc 1, installation goes smoothly. It asks for disc 2, I put in disc 2 and everything still goes smoothly. Then it asks for disc 3 and then I put the disc in. This is where things start to haywire. At some point during the installation process, this window pops up... Windows - Wrong Volume The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume KOTOR2_1 into drive D:. It then tells me to "cancel" "try again" and "continue". Obviously, not normal. I hit continue, and then this window pops up... Unhandled Exception Error Number: 0x80040707 Description: DLL function call crashed: ISRT._WaitOnDialog Setup will now terminate. To steal a line from C-3PO, I feel so totally helpless.
  16. No. EDIT: Just realized, I'm still running on Catalyst 4.12.
  17. I just defragged it last week. And I can't remember when the last time I updated the drivers, but my current driver version is 6.14.10.6497.
  18. Okay, after a long time of not playing KOTOR2, I got an itch to fire it back up on the PC. So I go to start it up and I get the tried and true Windows XP "program has encountered a problem and needs to close" window. I restart my PC...same thing. So I decided to uninstall and then reinstall the game. I ran into some trouble reinstalling the game, and after numerous attempts, I finally got it installed. I go to start the game, and I'm still getting the "program has ecountered a problem and needs to close" window. Really tees me off as the game was working perfectly the last time I played it back in the summer. I haven't made any hardware changes, no viruses, all my other games work perfectly, KOTOR works, but for some reason, KOTOR2 has crapped out on me. Any ideas???? Processor: AMD Athlon XP/MP/4 1830MHz Graphics Card: ATI RADEON 9800 PRO
  19. My idea for KOTOR 3, which should wrap up this storyline before moving on to another storyline for a Star Wars RPG (how about Knights of the New Republic). Anways my overview....(dependent on Revan and Exile being LS males) It's been 30 years since the events of KOTOR, and it has been a time of prosperity. The Republic reconstruction efforts from the Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil War for the most part, have been a success. The Jedi Order has been rebuilt, thanks in large part to Bastila and the Lost Jedi (Atton, Handmaiden, Mira, and Bao-Dur). However, a Republic Admiral, upset that the reconstruction effort of his outer rim homeworld has not gone well, decides to stage a revolution. This Admiral, along with most of his fleet (considering the Republic has multiple fleets), commits a successful coup-de-tat and declares himself the ruler of his homeworld. Surrounding systems soon pledge their loyalty and the Republic is on the brink of a Civil War. You play a Padawan learner, and the game starts out with you and your Jedi Master meeting with the Admiral to discuss a possible peace. However, the Admiral uses this opportunity to launch a surprise attack on the Republic. (This tutorial level will involve yourself fighting your way off a Republic ship, kind of like the opening scenes of The Phantom Menace). After making it back to Coruscant by the skin of your teeth, you then learn of the disappearance of numerous freighters and lone Republic capital ships being attacked by phantom ships out on the Outer Rim. The Senate requests that the Jedi Order helps in the investigation. You go to a couple systems and conduct investigations, and finally learn where the attacks seem to be coming from, the Unknown Regions. After traveling to the coordinates, you discover a damaged Ebon Hawk with Revan and the Exile on board. (At this point, player would then "create" Revan and the Exile and would also get to play as them at certain parts of the game. Revan and the Exile will mostly be in the background, but will play a key role in the game towards the end.) After finding Revan and the Exile, Revan tells you of the origins of the attack...the true Sith Empire are preparing to invade the Republic and that you must warn the Republic. By the time you reach Coruscant, it's too late. The Sith Empire launches their attack........with the help of our rebellious Republic Admiral. Rest of the game is going from place to place, helping to preserve the Republic, culminating in a final battle at Coruscant . (During the war, we'll have Mira get killed, fulfilling Kreia's promise of her sacrificing her life. Also, your Jedi Master will get killed by the Sith leader at some point). -------------------------------------- Yes it's action oriented, but it's a war to decide the fate of the Republic. I personally believe this is about the only way you can wrap up the storylines involving Revan and the Exile.
