WTF are you smoking. The Xbox 360, period, has 1080i ability. It's in the dash as a display option. All games will support 720p and 1080i, since NOT supporting 1080i would be market suicide, as DLP TV's are generally the only 720p resolution displays on the market. XNA allows instant/free translation from PC to X360 and from X360 to PC. Any ease of development on the console is equally as easy as PC development. The comment wasn't worth responding to, because getting simple things through the heads of some of you is less enjoyable than having a root canal through your butt. XNA != PC developement but XNA ease == PC development ease since they flawlessly translate between the two Also, the quote provided about FLOP performance - he forgot to mention Carmack said probably more powerful - which is why I omitted it, because he doesn't even know yet. Fanboy spin for Sony, GO! Try again, Beavis.

Elder Scrolls IV missing Xbox 360 launch

As do I, but we are in a very small minority <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So were high speed internet users just a few years ago. Times change quickly, and with the insertion of HD gaming, it'll only drive HDTV sales up - quickly. -

They would lose. The framerate issues of Colossus, and the bland nature of MGS3 instantly make them fail when compared to Ninja Gaiden. That required no effort... Yeah, the difference is pretty significant between Halo and Halo 2. Your point? I have a HDTV, I will be able to take advantage of HD gaming. You won't be able to have the visuals shown in the PS3 trailers without the use of a HDTV either. Double edged sword. That's why next gen is high defenition gaming. Except for Nintendo, cause they aren't planning on competing with Sony and MS. Well thank God a force feedback wheel and pedals are available! Yep, no sense of humor at all when it comes to pigeon holing a sex or race into a stereotype. -
Blu-Ray players will not be $299 at the launch of the PS3... LOL Ok, Captain Cynic, I'll try better in the future. Anyone not in their pocket? Bzzzz... Wrong. The only people touting superiority of the PS3 over the X360 is the developers that are in Sony's pocket. The rational people are claiming they'll be similar in overall power, but the X360 is easier to develop for. Yeah, much like when this board got silly over X360 game videos from alpha hardware. Spouting off "PS3 HAS BETTER GRAPHICS! PS3 HAS A HIGHER RESOLUTION! (my personal favorite), etc... I guess it's easier to be hypocrites than you actually follow through with your actions. Consistancy is not your strongest point I see. Yep. Buying into hype would be believing the console will dominate in Japan, and whatnot. But I forgot, your swedish gaming powers has given you great insight into the finer details of the console, that us mortals could not begin to understand.

Elder Scrolls IV missing Xbox 360 launch

There's a difference between ease of development with the PS2 and Xbox. One was easier to get more out of than the other, but in the end, the best of the PS2 can't touch the best of the Xbox. The improvements where there though, as Halo 2 is significantly better looking than Halo, and Ninja Gaiden is grossly superior than any of Itagki previous Xbox offerings. But how the hell do you know if Gears of War couldn't be improved upon? Is that part of being cynical to all things not Sony? I guess you really are the dumbass that I initially took you for. But hey, believe what you want. -

How the hell is it speculation? Do you pay attention to developer comments? MGS4 is years away, as is Killzone and DMC4. It has been confirmed they are NOT launch titles (which is ~1 year away), they are, at best 2nd generation PS3 - of which, the Xbox 360 will in it's 3rd generation of games. Use your brain for once. -
Cynical man to save the day.

Screenshot ? Why dosnt the gameplay footage look like that ? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It does, if you watch the new HD trailer. The camera is simply rotated. The game looks better since it was shown at E3...

Fear not, by the time the games Sony has shown are released, the X360 will be in it's 2nd to 3rd generation of games. -
-
Oh my god... Are you really that dense, or are you just trying to fit in. I can simply name one game from next gen, that's untouchable by current generation offerings. Gears of War That's only a 1st gen X360 title, and it blows everything shown to date away. Especially if you've taken the time to watch the HD trailer, that actually shows the gameplay, in 1280x720 resolution.

Cynical man to save the day! I forgot, you're one of the people that feel all developers lie, even those that try to explain how their engine specifically takes advantage of superior hardware, and those that have such hardware will experience a better looking/running game. Nothing to really deal with, since you're rather clueless on the topic of racing games in general. Living over seas, I thought you'd be more in tune with racing games, since the European market eats them up like the American audience eats up FPS. Oh, I don't tell people to buy the X360, I simply point out the benefits it has. Last I heard, the PS3 wasn't free, so it won't be a source for a "free Blu-Ray player". I've yet to swallow MS hype, as all of my opinions/facts on the console are from first hand impressions and developer/engineer comments. I don't soley base my entire stance on a console from an E3 show, where they display a bunch of FMV, and bombard people with CGI and claim it's real time.

Elder Scrolls IV missing Xbox 360 launch

Nothing to twist, doodle. It's not a facelift, as the game was never released - gameplay has changed from the original conception of the N64 version. THQ was never on the official launch release list, but that trio of games was on EBGames list - which is anything but official. Perfect Dark still on track of a "TBD" release date. But hey, it's not a EBGames prediction, so you can't trust it, eh? WTF are you talking about? So now the disc medium made FFX superior to FFIX as well as reducing disc swapping? That's ridiculous... It reduced disc swapping, but the medium had absolutely no impact on making the actual game superior... Yeah, you've bought into it. -
Yeah, cause developers trying to explain to people on the forums that the game runs better and looks better on multi-core processors just isn't enough. Again, in your fantasy world. It just proves how cynical you are, because if you read my impressions, you'd notice that I didn't like racing games either, but was extremely impressed with how PGR3 played and looked. Your closed minded, and have bought into the Sony hype - it's a sad combination, but one you've embraced.

Here you are going on about wanting to play games, but the more you spout off about them, the more it seems as though you don't actually play them.

Elder Scrolls IV missing Xbox 360 launch
Epiphany replied to kumquatq3's topic in Computer and Console
It was supposed to be a Gamecube game and a N64 game. Super facelift ahoy!! Nothing has been delayed outside of Oblivion. Everything else is still on track for launch. The people you know must not following games very well. BC is useful when you have no good launch titles, that of course, is not happening with the Xbox 360. As, like I've said several times (minus the 5 people you know that are dreadfully hurt by the selection of X360 launch games), there are a bunch of games that people are dieing to play - all of which appeal to casuals and hardcore gamers alike. Again, except the exclusive club of your buddies that hate all things not Sony. Sure thing. Oh but Blu-Ray is going to make all PS3 games superior... RIGHT?!?!?! You bought into the hype that Sony laid out. Wow, way to be selective. Amazing you missed a lot of games for launch, but hey, more power to ya. This is the Sony fanclub forum afterall. -
There is more to a racing game than that, and I'm not even a big fan of them. Forza and the Project Gotham Racing series are all racing games, and Forza is completely different than the PGR games... completely different.

Can you imagine better engines and superior hardware rendering that in real time, very easily? It's happening, in real time now, so I fail to see your point. -
Is your PC a multi-core processor? If so, then get the PC version, if not, then it won't play the same, run the same or even look the same. In your world... Same game? Really? Wow, so why all the physics and handling improvments in PGR3? Oh that's right, you're cynical, and can't accept the fact that it's just a better racing game than before, you see better graphics and assume that's all that's been upgraded.

If you don't see a difference... then wow, just wow.

Elder Scrolls IV missing Xbox 360 launch
Epiphany replied to kumquatq3's topic in Computer and Console
So because a game crosses platforms and generations before it's finally released, it's simply a "facelift"? That's an asinine comment, and you know it. BC is useful when your launch line up sucks and you have no killer aps, of which, the Xbox 360 is not lacking. Never has a launch happened where so many people were looking forward to so many different games. It's not focused on one game and it's not focused on games that are years away (MGS4, Killzone 2, DMC4, etc...). The focus is on the games that are due out at launch, and at last count, there are three "blockbusters" and several highly popular games that appeal to the casual market. - THAT IS SUCCESSFUL Yeah, they just made it up, and all Xbox games use the full 9 gigs of the DVD's, and many other games spanned multiple DVD's on the system, but those games just never got released. Different market, different focus, different games. 30+ gig media was not important for the X360, like it is for the PS3. Have you seen the embarassing Fatal Inertia videos for the PS3? That's the first gameplay footage shown for the console, and it's laughable - and a supposed launch game to boot. That's exactly why everything they've shown has been FMV/CGI, and/or cinematic trailers with the game engine with a ton of scripted events to "fake" a real-time game environment. You bought the smoke and mirrors, congrats. -
Elder Scrolls IV missing Xbox 360 launch
Epiphany replied to kumquatq3's topic in Computer and Console
Yeah, it pretty much is. Their other "big budget" titles are all still on track for launch. Yeah, cause their other two massive launch games which the majority of fans are highly anticipating are just facelifts. Kameo is a facelift of Kameo -1 and Condemned is just another facelift from Condemned -1. That's simply because you're unable to distinguish the difference between FMV and real time game footage. 1st gen PS2 games were not that drastically different from 5th gen PS1 games - they were better, but not the leaps and bounds that everyone seems to recall. The PS2 launch was dismal, and was only saved by their BC ability, so that the masses could still play their FF games and whatnot. Everyone recalls the PS2 as being amazing, because they just remember the demos shown that never happen, such as the overly ambitious Getaway video, in which Sony claimed was running in real time. Of course, screen captures from that video and screen shots from the final version tell a brutally different story. That's why BC is on everyones mind for this launch - because people remember playing more PS1 games on their PS2 in the launch window than actual PS2 games. If, on the other hand, you have a strong launch, with 3 killer launch titles, and the standard sports titles for the Madden diehards, you've successfully captured the casual audience with next generation offerings, and have given the hardcore fanbase a selection of new games to play that aren't "crap" like many launch titles are. The Xbox had Halo at launch, that was it - the X360 has three big games - no matter how negative you choose to be on it, those games appeal to all types of gamers, with a 1st person game, a racing game and an action/adventure game, added to the EA sports games for the sports fans and CoD2 for the FPS fans, and you've covered all your bases with higher than average games for the respective crowds. It's an undeniable fact that X360 games, by the most part, are grossly superior to current generation offerings from a visual standpoint. Higher resolution textures, better FSAA, greater draw distance, higher resolution of 720p and 1080i being minimum, vs the 480i requirements of this gen, better shadding, better modeling, better game engines, etc... Since you seem hellbent on claiming they're all "facelifts" from current gen games (which were successful), then I'd guess by your twisted logic, that the X360 has the best line up of all time, and will be the most successful console in history. There are several factors as to why DVD-9 is a better choice in the eyes of a normal consumer and from a gaming standpoint. It's cheaper - which allows them to continue on other hardware upgrades. The access speed is faster, as a 1X Blu-Ray drive will be slower than a 12X DVD drive. While no official word has been said, nearly every source is pointing to a 1X Blu-Ray drive in the PS3, since the cost will only get worse if upgraded to a 2X or higher. Compression technology is better than last generation as well, and seeing as 90% (J Allard's quote) of all Xbox games barely used 3 gig on their discs, they felt that staying with DVD-9 was a logical choice. It again, goes to the fact that developers, with better engines, don't have to use FMV to show large scale sequences. More stuff will be in game, driving disc space requirements down. -

Some retailers had even bundled the Xbox 360 and Oblivion for a launch package. It will probably not affect the Xbox 360 in the long term, but on launch day it will have an impact, I am sure. Edit: Spelling.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oblivion was never officially a launch day title - everyone that was anticipating the game knew this, everyone that wasn't anticipating the game, had no clue when it was due to launch. Retailers offering bundles - that's their own problem - but the core of the fanbase knew a 11-22 release wasn't happening for the game. As, like always, Bethesda continually said so on their forums. -
Yeah, and if you actually follow the progression of various PC/X360 games, you'd realize that Bethesda (for example, since they talk about multi-threading more than anyone) has said, a single processor PC will fail in performance compared to a multi-processor PC with multi-threading or a Xbox 360. In the fact that games run better, with more impressive visuals (at this point - it will only get better). If multi-threading wasn't great, then MS and Sony wouldn't be focusing on it for their consoles. But hey, your cynical POV is greater than their knowledge on the industry. Selective memory... Condemned Kameo Project Gotham Racing 3 5 of the 9 titles blew me away 1 of them (Dead or Alive) looked good, but wasn't jaw dropping - his (Itagki) art style is just too plain so far. I hate EA games - so their two games I had instant bias against and NFS had a bad framerate - which directly relates to EA's inability to release a quality product. PDZ was just sad to me - but Xbots around the net are starting to dig the art style, graphics and gameplay in all of the leaked handheld video captures from various events. Nice try, ace. That's funny, since Take Two just announced a delay, PERIOD, not just for the console version. Way to go!

What does Bethesda's decision on Oblivion have to do with the success of the Xbox 360? They (Micosoft) are on schedule to deliver three blockbuster launch titles - which is more than the PS2 had at launch.
