Via the power of google i have found the coimc in question and yes it appears to be an offshoot - it has the same writer and has casey jones and one of the turtles on the front cover. i would say its an offshoot cos its date is 1996 and the original comic was doen in the 80's and i think the artist was peter laird

What are the assumed demographics for rpgs anyway? I would have thought that the majority of young uns out there would be averse to rpgs due to the lack of premature gratification in such games.

I'm not sure that turtles has a broad enough appeal to be revived in the mainstream - as long as the crapness of the 2 sequels remain in living memory that is.

I liked turtles when it came out, but now i think the original series was a little silly - too self referential and shredder was such a doofus. The first film i liked (the movie origin of splinter was hilarious). The second movie had Vanilla Ice - ugh! the third movie was poo as was the live action series and i think some other cartoon of it. The most recent incarnation howeveer seems to be ok i think i even saw a lightsaber in it!!:D
