IIRC that basilisk thread was some fool whinging about the most superficial of points. The SW movies have always been simplistic in story so what else to go and see it if not for the grand action sequences. The movies are and were successful (or were you talking about something else)

I always thought the "no love" thing was part of a jedi having no attachments - physical or emotional. I assume the theory is that if they dwell on the past they cannot focus on what they are doing, if they are distracted by emotional attachments they cannot focus on what is at hand. A jedi is taught form chilhood to revere and respect life as a whole and form no emotional attachment to any one being/person. ( this is why i think its odd that the the exile would respond to romantic advances in a conventional manner, with revan it is ok since his memory was wiped) e.g.Anakin skywalker's love for his wife and mother ultimately led him to the dark side. Conversely it could be said that the jedi failed anakin - beacuse they were so emotionally reserved they were unable to help anakin and guide him properly. Ultimately it is luke's love for his father that saves him. I ses the anakin example to show the good and bad side to the jedi's no love policy.

This isnt a star wars board this is a "talk about anything" board My original "mumbo jumbo" comment was more of an allusion to the sequels. The concepts touched upon in the first film are interesting and thought provoking and yet it does not break up the film with a dry discussion. The sequels managed to draw the philosphy out into intensely boring dialogues about nothing. Its as if someone went through the script with a thesaurus to try and make it sound clever. I like bound - good thriller with hot lesbians, whats not to like? :D

did you cheer when trinity died? i did and so did the rest of the theatre i was in. A couple of my friends actually enjoyed the final instalment. I soon ...corrected them.

the masters were the point of each planet - the quests were structured so that you would meet/kill the masters.

yes i will agree with you that ep1 and 2 had flaws which were largely due to GL's inability to write decent dialogue or direct. I'm not sure he was ever known as a quality director (before the prequels A New Hope was his only commercial success a director) I am not sure how you are drawing the concluison that the TV series will be bad - GL will not be directly involved except for a few episodes maybe. Different creators will make each episode. The clone wars cartoon is a good example of a non GL tv series. There is no talk of another big screen star wars movie GL has said many times that EP 3 is the end, the story has been told. The tv series will serve as an adjunct to the main story. Being set between ep 3 and 4 means it has a large timeframe to play with and it will have mostly new chracters in it.

I would have liked the ability to force choke random NPCs if they ticked me off like the guy i mugged in the tatooine cantina oh how i laughed Oh and decent music that sounded more star warsy and a more general star wars feel.

well let's hope that a) Evrybody registered their copy of K2 b) Everybody fills out the form and points out the flaws in a mature and respectable manner. c) Most importantly the developers of a sequel take note of the responses and do not repeat the mistakes of K2 (or create loads of new ones)

I cant predict the quality anymore than you can - i never said that i thought it would be good i merely questioned what made you so sure the name would be ruined.

But it had airy fairy wire fu!! which admittedly i dislike now.(more full contact martial arts! Tony Jaa style!!) It was a good action film and was visually innovative. The philosophical mumbo jumbo was annoying but minimal.
