  1. Yes, I'd agree. Better they bunch up then you can tell them where to go vs. them dashing off to who knows where. Plus it's more funny.
  2. I used to be more hardcore, especially regarding oddball challenges (speed runs, for example) that required a lot of planning. These days, while I still have some of the mentality/desire, I usually don't have the actual patience such requires. Depends on the game, really. Sometimes I'm moreso, sometimes a lot less so. Now I'm somewhere inbetween hardcore and casual. A coreasual. Yeah, that's it.
  3. I have most of their post-content pages bookmarked.** They don't tend to have 10000 posts so it's not that difficult to keep up that way, when I occasionally want to find/refer to an older post. **not that I'm stalking them or anything
  4. Hm. So far all I've had is the dream that described watching his staff (he doesn't actually talk to you during those), whereby his quest log then tells me to "talk to him about his staff" - I thought it was glitched because he never had anything to say about it no matter how often I slept or how long I waited before trying to talk to him again, but I finally had a 2nd dream and that got it rolling again. But he's never really initiated any random convos. Just the scripted comments while I'm in the middle of dialogues with other NPC's. I've been meaning to try Mother - I just don't like shuffling party members that much. Maybe I'll snag her my next run instead of Kana.
  5. I completely agree. I've known lots of gamers and crpg'rs that want the combat to be super easy/relaxed precisely because they want to see every single nook and cranny of the game, but don't want to have to deal with "all that combat" just to do so. Their main interest is not in outwitting or conquering tough combat challenges, but they may still spend 100's of hours doing whatever it is they enjoy. You can be "hardcore" about many things re:games, it's not only about super punishing combat or number crunching. I don't really like the term that much, even as I use it sometimes. Edit: As to fixing the conundrum...outside of giving players, more often, more control/many more individual difficulty options (not just "normal/hard/superhard), it's pretty tough to "fix." 7 Days to Die has so many options in this regard it's crazy. One reason I like it, even when I don't generally like "zombie" games. And even with all their options, you still have some saying it's either too hard or not hard enough.
  6. Hi. A couple people offered suggestions re: GoG's installer in this earlier thread. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/77884-cannot-install-104/
  7. Might want to check out this earlier posting...a couple people offered suggestions re: GoG's installer. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/77884-cannot-install-104/
  8. Quick curiosity question .... you know how Eder occasionally shakes you awake when you camp? I absolutely love those interactions. I wish there were more bits like that - it brings companions more to life. Wondering ... if you do not have Eder, do any of the other companions do something similar? Not necessarily shaking you awake, but something along those lines? I have Eder, Aloth, Durance, Kana (the others just sit in the Stronghold, mostly...). There might have been one time Kana said something right after camping, but I can't remember at the moment.
  9. Watched a Mike Douglas indie movie called Beyond the Reach. Largely a 2-person movie. Mike plays a rich guy who wants to illegally hunt bighorn in the Mojave, has a young tracker guiding him, things go wrong. Mike is having a grand old time being "rich-smarmy-evil guy" again, which gives a chuckle or three, but overall the movie isn't very good. And the ending is almost comically bad. 5/10 - only watch if you really want to see the star ham it up in that type of role again.
  10. Easy is definitely way too easy for me. Normal is a nice combo of not-very-taxing/not stressful but those certain tough fights still need my attention if I don't want to wipe. I suspect Hard would be about where I'd want it (for repeats) ... if I wanted combat to be harder/more taxing, that is. I don't find combat interesting enough to want combat to last longer, however, which to me is all the harder difficulties achieve. So for me, Normal is about right.
  11. I've probably rolled 16-20 characters by now - then I save at the tutorial campfire (berry pickin' time) and some days later I just delete it. A few I get to Gilded Vale with, then they sit there for "maybe one day." Still working on the save of the 1st chr. I ever made. I think I've been saying "I'm getting close to finishing" for a week now. Although this time I think I really am getting close. Really!
  12. Pathing AI really does give one a giggle sometimes. (in case it's not obvious, everyone could go around, but instead they're all jittering behind each other...)
  13. It would be nice if more indie folks would make more games like this, at least. I don't need oodles of them every year nor do I need them to be super high AAA budget, would just be nice to see more.
  14. I took a gander and it does seem like 10 poll options is the setting for a single-part poll. Even if I could add a choice, I doubt I could alter the votes already cast, if you know what i mean.
  15. At least you don't end the game with 11million or something. ...I've occasionally used extra cash to just check out store items, use them in a few fights, even if I know I won't likely use them much overall. But I like knowing whether I might want them on a different playthru.
  16. Heh, you're correct that I misread your comment. But there's no need to be overly snippity about it. For some reason I read that as "why aren't people voting for Rangers/Paladins." I haven't actually voted and thus can't/didn't see the poll results by default. As to the reason - maybe it's a poll creation limitation, number of options you can put in. I'm not sure what those are. Don't think I've ever made a poll.
  17. I've found Paladins dull as dishwater for my tastes in just about every game ever and haven't seen anything to change my mind in PoE. This isn't to say they aren't effective. Just not my style. Rangers - maybe a melee one someday. Bow type combat always felt OP'd to me in BG1, but I think there could have been a better solution for that over what PoE did. I lost a lot of interest in ranged weapon combat when there was no ammo whatsoever to manage. It feels Diablo-ish. (edit) I give them to my backline for when they're not casting spells, which works well, but don't pay them much mind otherwise.
  18. I don't know if it was "intended" or not, but it's what currently happens. I think I read they intend to alter this later, so either oversight or glitch.
  19. I don't know if someone mentioned it already in that other long thread, but what I've noticed in my game is that during the tutorial if you have fast mode on, the npc voices cut out like that at their trigger points. eg, if you have fast mode on and are sneaking, it happens less often or not at all, for me. It's like fast mode walking = triggering/hitting the dialogue/banter spot then moving beyond too fast which causes a skip in audio or some such weird thing. Not saying that's it for everyone, but sure seems to be it for me, at least in the tutorial area (I haven't noticed this issue anywhere else/the rest of the game, however).
  20. I'm guessing GoG would be the one to contact re: issues with their installers. They have their own tech support and forums.
  21. A few days away from PoE (mostly - I did a few quests and made portraits ) and I feel more inspired to fiddle around with it again. Try different parties through Act1 at least. I do love Act1. It all makes me want to play FO:NV again, however. I feel like headshot sniping stuff. Maybe I'll alternate.
  22. lol...that's like something I would do. But awesome, guess I didn't notice before (only looked at Dyrford shops a couple times I think). I'll super-speed my party over there now. Finally something to spend my 50k+ on. *rubs hands together*
  23. Haven't tried them all (as the Watcher) and I'm not sure I ever will. I have a feeling I'd never be able to play without at least Eder and Aloth...and I like having two fighter types in a party. So far that means I often pick Fighter, because then I'm the other Fighter, and I create/hire a Priest, leaving two slots to cycle people in and out as I choose (or not). I've tried being a Cipher (works well with Eder as tank, seems like) and started one where I was a Rogue, but haven't gotten far in that save yet. I have zero interest in Paladins (for myself or the companion) and little interest in Rangers. Might try a Druid at some point, or maybe making myself the Priest and hiring a 2nd Fighter. Solo...if I ever try this, I have no idea. Lots of ideas out there, but I don't know what might work for me/that I'd like, personally.
  24. A rapier would be nice, thanks, I'll take a peek at that. Hm. Doesn't list locations, if any are specific. It's always possible some are quest rewards. Or just the random-ish. Edit: @Luckman - hm, I've cleared that floor already, I don't remember seeing it. I'll go back and double-check. I do have a bunch of "Fine" sabers in my stash, tho. haha.
  25. That might have been the one in the thread I was thinking of. I like that some cool items are in stores - it's not like you can buy tons of them if you're skipping large swaths of the game (thus not making as much money) and even if you sold everything you still couldn't buy EVERY cool item from every shop. So I think it's to give people playstyle options, as well as be a money-sink.
