  1. lol, all this talk of Icewind Dale not being an RPG. I think your head would explode if you ever looked at the thread on Steam where idiot upon idiot tries to qualify Shadow of Mordor as an RPG. These people were also trying to say Mario Brothers was an RPG because you play the role of an Italian plumber, gotta love people like that.
  2. Apparently they do. Have you seen Steam Greenlight? ZING! EDIT: Only the sexiest of kobolds double post. If you catch my meaning. That's not what Steam Greenlight is for. That's to support games during their development. There's the option of playing some games during their Greenlight period, but the idea is really to let the developer get user feedback from people who felt strongly about the game. It's kind of like Kickstarter, only implemented a hell of a lot more intelligently.
  3. It's not any of that at all for me. Achievements track your progress through a game. I don't care about collecting them at all, but they make it obvious when you only played half the game. If there's a separate achievement for aligning with a different faction, for instance, you know that that's a pretty big game decision and it would be worthwhile to play the game a second time from the perspective of the other faction. Anyone who objects to achievements is just downright pig-headed. This is the same sort of idiot who objects to having seatbelts in a car, they exist, but social evolution has thinned their numbers out.
  4. I still remember the 200+ page book that came with Baldur's Gate 2 with all of the spells in it. A 3 page health and safety legal disclaimer would be an affront to everything these games stand for.
  5. Excellent, thank you. I don't even care about the disc version (which apparently will not even ship until _after_ release date), but I'd like to add the digital copy to my Steam library and earn achievements. So this is perfect.
  6. When I ponied up for the boxed collector's edition it was with the understanding that the included digital copy would be available on the distribution service of my choosing. However, I looked at my order earlier today and it says the following: Digital Downloadable Copy of Pillars of Eternity, DRM free for Windows, Mac, or Linux.DRM free prohibits Steam, which is the only service I would ever want a digital copy of a game from in the first place. Did something change between when I ordered this and now, or is this just a misleading bullet point in the order description?
  7. Don't feel too bad, I bought the $140 Boxed Collector's Edition and all I got was this Pillars of Eternity T-Shirt.Well, actually I got a couple of other things like a mouse pad too... but despite paying a premium for a physical box, I did not get a physical art book. I will have to buy the strategy guide separately as well, I would have bought a combination physical collector's edition + strategy guide bundle had such a thing been offered during the backer period. You might be better off buying a physical strategy guide anyway. I am not a fan of digital anything, it just does not make sense to me to have a digital copy of the strategy guide when the game runs fullscreen. Having a physical book that you can place on your desk while playing the game is infinitely more useful.
