Well I understand what are you trying to say, but I think you can't have it both ways.....sooner or later your love attachment is going to affect your judgment in a good or in a bad way, whether you're aware of it or not, no matter how hard you train to cope with it. But as much as people say that love turns jedi to the dark side I think that part of the failing of the jedi is denial of love. It is something that can not be denied without losing a part of yourself - or your connection to those you are sworn to protect.....

Yes....yes.... I hope that Malcolm Glazer will destroy Man Utd and that it will drop to the english championship league.....

When it comes to Sith and them having mates, considering the sith code........I always thougt they would just urge their sexual needs and desires....love and relationship doesn't fit in their pattern of behaviour, because it would only slow them down in their ever lasting hunger for power and glory....

Star Wars: Episode II.V Defeat of the Mandalorians

WARNING - Mandalorian junky detected...... -
I'm just urging you and everybody else to stick to the subject - Jedi and love.....not a philosophical argument on the issue does love even exists or not...... I apologize if I may seem bossy, but I just don't want this thread closed, that's all.....no hard feelings
-
metadigital, I see you're very keen on philosophy and especially on philosophers from the " empiricism and rationalism" era, but with respect I beg you to try and stick to the subject.....because if this continues will have an all out philosophical war between the protagonist of lets say: Francis Bacon...Rene Descartes...John Locke...George Berkeley...David Hume.....and if Fionavar sees this, then this thread is so going down...

I've seen ep3 and I don't think Padme was the main reason for his fall.... The first time Anakin came before the jedi council Yoda said that he senses much fear in him (especially because that was the first time he was apart from his mother, but there was much more to it....) and that he was too old - because the jedi like their new padawans to be young and open minded. This is perfectly understandable since a child gets older, then doubt, fear, and frustration arise and since the begging of his jedi training he had very strong emotions inside of him that he couldn't control then and until the end......despite his training the jedi council and his master Obi-Wan did not succeed into making Anakin a proper jedi....in the film when Anakin was already on the dark side, Obi-Wan said to him: I have failed you....I have failed you indeed....because the jedi tried to made a person out of him that he wasn't and never would have been, particularly because he was too old and even at that time began to build his character that was far apart from a proper jedi and he was already at that time predestined to fail as a jedi. The main problem Anakin had

Thanks Volourn.......you where right, the best thing there is the explanation on the ep2 scene between Anakin and Padme after Anakin slaughters the Tuskan Raiders.....shows a totaly new perspective on the scene and on the love issue between Padme and Anakin... Thanks again....

Disagree......here's the link of the scene anatomy of ep2 by George H. Sirois where he explains very well the reasons of Anakin's feelings towards Padme: http://www.411mania.com/movies/columns/art...columns_id=3883 P.S. Thanks Volourn for the link.....

Staying focused, calm and reserved while in love would be a challenge for any jedi, especially because of their responsability as guardians of peace and as the users of the force......A jedi that could control his passions while being in love would make him stronger, mentally and wiser in general.....A jedi that could manage that, would be the strongest example of his ability not to given in to the dark side, because if one could love on one side and stay true to the ideals of the light on the other side would be more resilient towards the temptation of the dark side then any jedi master.....

KoToR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
Hildegard replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Considering that the point of this thread is K3 ideas and stories and given the fact the author (Swinny) of one of the best K3 story, by my opinion, hasn't been around for a long time, here's a shortcut for those that didn't read it: http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=33379 -
The answer everybody seeks......join the club....nothing but unsubstantiated rumors and crap like: a friend of mine heard it from a friend that heard it from the cousin of GL that.......bla......bla.....bla.......

Star Wars will continue beyond episode III

Yes, stuff you say is true, but I think it's not a reason to just ignore it and make it forbidden. Love has some bad sides and sometimes tough consequences, but as Jolee said: How you deal with the bad part of love is what determines your character, what determines the Dark Side's hold over you. And if one is too "weak" and can't control his passion while in love.......then he would suffer the consequences of his/her actions......It just proves that love isn't for everyone, it goes for the Jedi and for all non-Jedi.

Star Wars will continue beyond episode III
Hildegard replied to Eddo36's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I just have feeling that those series will be nothing more then: PANEM ET CIRCENSES for us SW fans who buy/watch/play anything with a tag SW and in the end getting denied the quality and a movie/game/book that diserves the title STAR WARS. -
When it comes to Jedi and their policy towards love it always irritaded me, I can understand the Dark Jedi being all destructive and similar.....I think that in SW universe, and espacially between the force sensitive individuals, love has been unfairly neglected, by the Jedi - with the whole speach that it leads to the dark side and crap like that, and the Dark Jedi - who obviously think that love is for pathetic light siders....kind of ironic..... I think that the main problem is that Jedi keep on and on mixing emotion-passion and love, sure those things are closely connected, but you can't just throw them in the same basket, and that's excatly what the Jedi did, which is a clear sign of a lack of wisdom and their inability to solve the ever-complicated issue of love, so they took the easy path and equalized passion-emotions and love. The best explanation about love and the Jedi was that made by Jolee Bindo, who is by me more wiser then the whole Jedi council in KOTOR, he said: "The Jedi, with their damnable sense of over-caution, would tell you love is something to avoid, thankfully anyone who's ever been partially alive knows that's not true. Love doesn't lead to the Dark Side. Passion can lead to rage and fear, and can be controlled....But passion is NOT the same thing as love. I just think that the greatest things in life shouldn't be avoided because they come with a few complications. How you deal with the bad part of love is what determines your character, what determines the Dark Side's hold over you. Controlling your passions while being in love....that's what they should teach you to beware. But love, itself, will SAVE you.....not condemn you." Your thoughts...........

Star Wars will continue beyond episode III

The name Star Wars and George Lucas are 2 symbiotic things given his "all rights reserved" over everything taged with a name star wars.....and with his two previous movies, ep1 and ep2, which really shaked his credibility as a quality movie director, because by many ep1 and ep2 were like watching softporn B-production movies, apart from the movie budget.....they were so unimaginative, lacking in style and they were so seriuos (and GL tryed to compesate that with """funny""" characters, like C3PO and J.J. Binks and we all now how that ended up)......the best comment on ep1 and ep2 was made by the actor who played as Luke Skywalker (can't remember his name): watching ep1 and ep2 was like reading the Bible.... Maybe ep3 will be better, I certainly hope it will be, but SW series sounds to me like a one-way ticket to a comlete fiasco.....and making movies somewhere between ep3 and ep4 sounds ridiculous, it's like trying to milk a cow which obviously doesn't have anything to offer in terms of a quality movie......I can see it now - headlines: ep 3.487902 is coming out june 2009 just after ep 3.38495096. -
What Would You Change In Kotor?
Hildegard replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Longer in time and larger in size, more planets, more subquests, the universe should be much more"alive" with not so many limitations and exagerated predestined paths... MORE freedom to develop you character the way you want him/she to be, that is more freedom apart from the main storyline..... -
