  1. When Kana joined the party he has some armor which has a -50% recovery time. Would changing that armor to something which has less RT speed up his chants. IE. Take less time to build up the 3 chants required for an invocation. Or is there anything else I can do to reduce the time it takes to build the 3 chants? Cheers!
  2. I to am finding the chants build up too slowly, I've only been able to use 1 invocation so far, playing on hard. Does Recovery Time affect the speed of building the Chanters chants? 3. Hey Sensiku. What race would you recommend for a Wizard? This post has more detail if you're interested. Cheers! EDIT: I ended up going with a Wood Elf in the end. They seem pretty good for a Wizard. I went with high might and int, with a bit in dex as well.
  4. I'm making a Wizard. Now I usually go with an Elf in DnD games but I can see Elves are a bit different here. Does anyone know if Elves are still a good choice for Wizards in PoE? If so, what are your thoughts on Pale Elf vs Wood Elf for a Wizard? Or do you recommend a different race for a Wizard? Cheers! EDIT: I ended up going with a Wood Elf in the end. They seem pretty good for a Wizard.
  5. Weird, I tried that but couldn't see a patch. Maybe I'm missing where it should offer the update. I tried going to my library and right clicking on PoE but couldn't see options to update or any updates in the Recent News. What am I doing wrong?
  6. Hey Sensuki, I just watched your beginners guide to basic game play and combat, another excellent video, thanks. But you do sound quite knackered and a bit ill, get some rest man! PS. Hurry up with the most important class video; Epic city shaking, world destroying Wizard build.
  7. Semi off topic but has anyone heard rumors if the day 1 patch will include balance changes to the Wizard damage spells vs Druid damage? I've seen various videos where people say Wizard damage is a bit underpowered compared to Druids, so wondering if that's true and if they intend on tweaking the damage on day 1.
  8. Yeh, that's true. I can't remember if BG1 had those kinds of spells, probably not. Well, they better hurry up and make PoE2 then! And re Wizards being dorks....hmm, where's that spell, firebell? Hmm, furrball? You'll be in trouble once I remember it!
  9. I had a look through the manual and while the Wizard spells look a lot of fun, I couldn't see any spells which (for me) made the DnD/BG2 Wizard really unique and special for me. I'm talking about the more unusual spells such as; Contingency spells: which you can setup out of combat and will last for ages. It will trigger a spell (or spells for higher versions of the contingency spell) when a certain condition has been met (your health below X % for example). Spell triggers: Where you can store a spell out of combat to be triggered in combat by a keywords (IE it wouldn't use up one of the cast per day for the standard spells). These were very useful for emergencies. Long duration spell shields: So in BG2, I could have a spell shield up which would last around a day. Spells for specifically taking down enemy Wizard spell shields: In BG2 (and it looks like in PoE but for only that encounter I think), Wizards could have spell shields which absorb X levels/number of spells. Now the normal way to bring their shields down was to pummel the enemy Wizard which damage spells but there were also spells which specifically were designed to bring these shields down. This led to some great caster vs caster tactical battles. Has anyone who has played the beta noticed these types of spells or does the manual list all the spells in the game? I know this is only the first release of PoE (I'm sure more advanced spells can be put into expansions and sequels) and I'm still very much looking forward to playing it but it would be nice to have these kinds of spells. I really loved the complicated caster vs caster battles from BG2.
  10. At the risk of sounding like bored technical support, have you tried logging out and back in? Classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nn2FB1P_Mn8 (Mods, sorry if semi-off topic is against the rules!)
  11. Great, thanks for that. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the 3rd part of your guides.
  12. A huge THANKS for these guides Sensuki. I've watched parts 1 and 2 and they have taught me a lot about the game. And thanks for not putting in any spoilers. I like to play a magic heavy party, so I think I'm going to go with; Wizard (main/me) Fighter Chanter (will use as 2nd melee) Priest Druid Cypher (ranged) Do you think that's a good party balance for hard dificulty? PS. I really hope the day 1 patch includes buffing the damage of the Wizard spells. I hate to think my Wizard would do less than some tree hugging hippy Druid! Thanks again.
  13. And remember that Stealth is not used to detect traps, Mechanics is! At least as of BBv480. It is a bit counter-intuitive, but it is what it is. So to recap: There's no Rogue CNPC in the game (Edér... Q_Q) Anyone can take Mechanics, it's a Skill, and characters choose freely amongst Skills. You need to enter Scouting Mode (Stealth) to Detect Traps. Mechanics is the Skill for finding and disarming traps. Not Stealth. Lockpicks can be used to lower the Mechanics requirement for lockpicking. They are not necessary to perform the act. When you enter Scouting Mode, your entire group starts sneaking. When combat starts, Scouting Mode ends for everyone. No Stealthing in combat. Not all of that had been discussed yet, but I felt that all of it related enough to the topic to warrant mention due to how it works in PoE. Note that there has been some much-warranted bellyaching about Mechanics being used to spot traps as well as disarm them, because it requires a good scouter to invest heavily in both those skills at once, and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense that Mechanics would help you spot hidden objects, so it might change, but it's doubtful. There are other issues but none of that will change before release so it's not worth discussing here. Chanter, Cipher and Wizard all get +1 to Mechanics, so I would choose any of them. Your Attributes has no bearing on Skills, so it's really up to you. I would personally go with the Chanter or the Cipher just for flavour. The Cipher also gets +1 Stealth, so would be a good choice for Mechanics/Stealth, but if you are going for the druid, that option is out, obviously. Note that when it comes to Skill Point Costs for increasing Skill Levels (1st level costs 1 point, second 2 points, etc) the bonus from Class and Background does not count towards the price, potentially making a pretty big difference. Wow, thanks for the very detailed info! It seems like we have a top community in POE. And thanks other for your replies as well.
  14. Thanks for the replies, that's good to hear. I was thinking about this party; Fighter or Barb Priest Druid or maybe a Cipher (probably Druid though!) Chanter Wizard (me!) Does anyone have advice for a good character choice in the above list for the lock pick skill? Cheers! Come on the 26th!
  15. As per title, are there any lock pick spells/powers in the game? The reason is, I hate having a Rogue in my party (to be fair, I haven't tried the POE Rogue yet though) but I usually include one in my parties in other games because I hate not opening every chest I can find / missing out of that lovely loot.
  16. Hah! Ignore my previous post, for some reason I got it into my head the game was being released on the 22nd. Now I've double checked the main site and it's the 26th. Doh!
  17. Hopefully they'll release the download keys early, whatever US timezone they're in on the 22nd, as I'm in Japan and it's already 10am 22nd. I can't wait! ;-)
