  1. Bruce I am 6 foot five and I weigh 220 pounds. I would make the ugliest woman you have ever seen! And there is nothing about the mail form I find attractive LOL!
  2. I was imagining more of a soylent green solution. You know? Killing two birds with one stone.
  3. Oh come on it was funny LOL
  4. That’s it! Close this thread now you winThat’s it! Close this thread now you win
  5. That makes all the things I’m afraid of seem insignificant doesn’t it? After all, next to that and unenforceable climate agreements and identiity politics and other dumb theories of impossible social engineering why would anyone be afraid of economic mismanagement? Debt monetization and currency devaluation? Hyper inflation? Eminent domain? Gun control and the erosion of property rights?
  6. You forgot mandatory sexual conversion treatment for heterosexual males! no I’m not being facetious and I’m not making it up. This was something that I know people who were afraid of.
  7. I made strawberry preserves from the berries I grew in the green house. Five 16 oz jars. All the planters are clear now. I bought and herb garden seed set online. Going to try my hand at that next.
  8. Only much, much colder
  9. Nothing sexy about that though. Far better to convince people that there is a secret Cabal of neocommunist pedophiles that want to turn all straight man gay and only a bombastic somewhat successful real estate magnate can save us all. Besides when you start talking about policy that’s when you find out most people basically agree with each other. Well most people until you run into someone like me.
  10. If history is any guide Biden can expect a very soft ball treatment from the media for quite a while. Expect a great deal of fawning praise and undignified boot licking. It won’t last forever. They even turned on Obama after a time. But you have to figure he’s going to get at least a year or two of kids glove handling
  11. The Panthers have opened up their season with two games against Chicago. They beat the Hawks both times. My early read on this team is they can score a lot of goals but they can’t really prevent the other team from doing the same. At least the Panthers have buried the hatchet with Keith Yandel. His presence on the blue line is sorely needed and he’s already got three assists in two games.
  12. It’s a perfect opportunity to get into it. It’s full contact soccer on ice only a lot faster. It’s a great game. In fact I think there is nothing in sports more beautiful than a perfectly executed give and go or a goal scoring one timer from the defenseman to the wing. I take either of those over a Hail Mary touchdown. However both pale in comparison to a grand slam in baseball.
  13. And so today it ends. for five long miserable years this country has spoken a little else other than Donald John Trump. We are sick unto death of the subject. I would not go so far as to suggest his name be stricken from history. But by God we need to turn our backs on him far quicker than is typical of an ex-president. He needs to fade into obscurity in record time. There are numerous people in this country who have suggested putting an every man in the White House. There are many others who flirted with the idea of a celebrity president. I seriously hope both factions have gotten that crap out of their system. Let’s not do this again huh?
  14. Just found out today what my ranking is for the vaccine. The state is going to provide all state employees with the vaccine given out by order of age, general health, and job responsibilities. Law enforcement and emergency services are of course first. In fact most of them have received both doses now. Because of my age and health the fact that I’m single and have a job that does not require me to interact with the public means I am in the last group. No biggie. I can count on one hand all the times I’ve left my home in the last year. Well maybe two hands.
  15. Cultural appropriation! OMG Im stressed .... stressed, where is the safe space? Where is the puppy and cafe latte? thinking back on my previous post, is it spades or hearts that uses Trump cards? I forget.
  16. I hear we’re even changing the rules of the game spades.

  18. Don’t read in some thing that isn’t there. I wasn’t attempting to make a point with the clip. The conversation just reminded me of that. Besides that scene makes more of a point about autodidacts vs formal education. That’s a different conversation altogether. If I had to choose a fictional character who most represented my viewpoint it would not be Will Hunting. More likely Wolf Larsen or maybe John Galt.
  19. @Achillesthis conversation reminds me of my favorite scene from Good Will Hunting
  20. I didn’t make an error. They are what they are. I attended 3 over the years. MDCC, FAU, and Tennessee State. I didn’t really see much difference between them. I just kind of laugh at the notion that they are some kind of higher purpose institutions or some temple of knowledge or some such. Serve the community? Hardly. They are a business much like any other. Not deserving of special treatment nor consideration. I also scoff at the notion that any one of them is better than any other. The prestige of ivy league exist only in peoples heads. I once told a guy who graduated from Penn I bet he paid too much for his car too. They teach you the exact same math at community colleges as they do at MIT. Only they do it for a fraction of the cost. by the way, vision statements, slogans, creeds are just words. They don’t obligate anybody to anything. Not impressed
  21. @AchillesThe university is not there to serve the community. It’s selling a service for money. I had a conversation with one of my instructors once. Early on in my education career. I was asking him questions during class about matrices. He started to cop an attitude about answering. I told him there in the class that he appears to be under some kind of misunderstanding about what our relationship is. I told him I hired Miami Dade community college to teach me Calculus. Miami Dade community college assigned the task to him. That is our relationship. College professors are not mentors. They are not there to sharpen minds or enlighten or serving any kind of higher or noble purpose. They’re just people hired to do a job. Grade school teachers do that. Hi school teachers do that. Because they are working with children. University students are adults. They should be business like enough about what they are doing to not need to be inspired or enlightened. Only instructed. I suppose you could tell by this one anecdote I shared a fairly caustic relationship with most of my professors.
  22. Universal basic income is spoken up with derision quite a bit. And at present it is unworkable. But we are coming to a point rapidly where there will be more workers than work. Automation, obsolescence, coupled with a population that only expands. I am not sure where the breaking point is but I am sure there is one. Maybe that art appreciation degree won’t be worthless after all. Maybe at some point in the future there will be time for artist to create art and for educated people to appreciate it. But, not today.
  23. One other note. And I can’t speak for everybody but hell will freeze into a solid block before I ever write a check to FAU Or attend any of their alumni functions or interact with them in anyway. Anybody who writes checks to their Alma Mater has more money than sense. That’s like sending Christmas gifts to the people who robbed you.
  24. Nah. The corrections are already there for anyone willing. I got my degree paying in-state tuition rates in Florida in the 90s. But because of veterans benefits I only paid about a third of the cost out-of-pocket. I worked for AT&T a few years back. We had a tuition reimbursement plan. You put the money up took the class and as long as you’ve got a 2.5 or better average they reimbursed you in full for the tuition books and labs. The only catch was it if you completed the degree you had to work for them for five years. The Veterans Affairs offers medical scholarships that pay all costs for med school. The only catch you have to work for them for 10 years after. There are numerous corporations, organizations, people, who have money and need services. If you’re willing to trade them time in service they’ll pay tuition. as for the spiraling cost of a higher education will have already voiced one idea. I think a university should operate much more like a technical college. And not compel people to pay for classes that are not essential for their field of study. Like I said that’s just being generous towards themselves with other peoples money. And making colleges easier to pay for does a poor job of incentivizing colleges to offer their services for less money. It does exactly the opposite. Any higher education will become free as soon as the universities and their professors agree to work for free. what’s the solution? I don’t know. I don’t really give a damn. If I were to give advice to a kid coming out of high school today one of middling grades in no specific direction I would advise a vo-tech school. HVAC repair will always be in demand pays really well you’ll come out of the program earning $65-$70,000 a year with no debt and it only goes up from there. You’re a hell of a lot better off than an intern fresh out of med school With two student loans and years of dues paying before he hits the big money. It would take that doctor a long time to catch up to the guy who is the HVAC mechanic. Especially considering the HVAC guy has a seven-year Headstart on him.
