  1. Maybe we just want a happy ending for characters we liked? There are so many depressing things in the real world, i like it when writers try to limit them a bit in fictional universes. Whatever floats your boat, i guess.
  2. Just watched the second developer interview on gamespot.com(yes, i know it's old now). Producer Mike Gallo from Lucasarts said that the conversations regarding the events of KotOR early in The Sith Lords will determine how TSL will unfold and what characters you will run into later in the game. Let's be presumptuous and view this as an indication that you will run into characters that may or may not have died in KotOR if you told the game that they survived. He also said that any encounters with KotOR characters would be cameos(apart from T3) so i think both sides of the discussion can rest easy. It was a very reassuring interview in many ways. In addition to Gallo, it featured Chris Avellone, Feargus Urquhart and Chris Parker. I just can't wait for TSL, need to go into hibernation until february, any ideas on how? The interview can be found on this page: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/rpg/kotor2/in...tml?tag=mp_2to9
  3. I read JMS' post about this on the rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5.moderated newsgroup and just felt gutted. He did a great job as Dr. Franklin, very convincing acting. I especially remember the Walkabout. The memorial service was held yesterday and according to Chats on the newsgroup the church was packed and there were many B5 actors present as well as the producers and the Great Maker himself, J. Michael Straczynski.
  4. I seem to recall reading in CGW or another magazine about KotOR2 that the Republic is still strong in the Core Worlds. That they've pulled back to reinforce there. Does this mean that the Jedi Order still exists there and that all the talk about the Sith taking over is only true for the Outer Rim Territories? (Which is very similar to KotOR1 to be honest)
  5. I'm an optimist by nature, so i don't think she's dead unless you tell the game that she is. I think this very thing is the reason you won't be seeing much of the NPC's that could be killed, other than by word of mouth from other NPC's or short encounters that can be removed if you tell the game that she died(boo). I really would prefer this solution to the cop-out "she died later anyway" way of handling it. As i'm sure those who would prefer she was dead(hiss) would hate a "she wasn't actually dead"-solution if they wanted her to take a larger part in the story. I guess we'll see in February, no reason to worry about it now. Btw: Being an optimist means getting frequently disappointed but it's the only downside to it
  6. HK-47 can't compete with digital boobies... Yeah those are certainly a pair of maracas on Jolee. Currently, the aggregate score between boobies and non-boobies is: BOOBIES - NON-BOOBIES 12 - 30 It's all in your mind. Seriously, dude, seriously.
  7. 'Different' ?!? Is that different has in 'differently able' ?!? No, that's "different" as in "different". I've seen "Henry VI" by the RSC at the RST, and i've played KotOR. They were entirely different, but i enjoyed them both. KotOR considerably more actually, but that's besides the point. At least i didn't fall asleep at the RST like some of my classmates. I would defenatly like it to be well written and well thought out rather then be like the Star Wars movies and your average fantasy CRPG (particularly if made by Bioware). It really doesn't matter to me which company made the average Fantasy CRPG i don't want KotOR2 to be like. Probably all of them, I don't like Fantasy. I beg your pardon, i did no such thing! Fact of the matter, i think the romances in the movies and KotOR were great. That might make me a simpleton in your eyes, but i really couldn't care less as long as i'm having fun. Even if it is optional? You would rather it was denied to the people who might enjoy it, even though you didn't have to do it yourself?
  8. Let me get this straight. Are you saying that : a) Star Wars sucks b ) Everything Star Wars has to be a perfect replica of the movies c) Therefore everything in the Star Wars universe has to suck. ? Interesting... That would be no, no and no. a) Just because something is different doesn't mean that it is inferior. b ) I would certainly like KotOR2 to be more like the Star Wars movies than your average Fantasy CRPG(or Shakespeare ). c) Negated by a).
  9. And how do you know that the love that inspired those words wasn't just as banal as the love between Han/Leia, Revan/Bastila or Revan/Carth?
  10. If you remember your ESB, they were trying to emulate the Han-Leia romance. I watched ESB again last night and i must say they succeeded quite well. This is Star Wars, not Shakespeare. You may want Shakespeare on that tall and narrow pedestal you've built for yourself, but you aren't going to get it with KotOR2. So why waste your time?
  11. No my friend, it's the hollywood syndrome and their failure to portray strong female characters without having to use the old 'b*tch on a power trip' routine. Such boring cliches are Bioware's trademark. What you think is great characterization is just your prepubescent mind getting confused on her polygonal boobs... Now who's the snobby b*tch?
  12. If all the player will get is a verbal explanation of what happened to characters that they liked, i will be very surprised if they just make a short "She died in a such and such manner.."-statement. Obsidian respects the fans of the original game and will be considerate towards those fans in whatever choices they made in the first game. Having the verbal explanations vary in accordance with the information the player gives about his KotOR I experience is not technically challenging. The writers may find it challenging, but also all the more enjoyable as they are looking to make their first game an unforgettable epic. I for one would love to find out that everything turned out alright in the end for Revan-Bastila/Juhani/Jolee/Mission/Zaalbar as i'm sure others would be equally delighted if the same was true for Revan-Carth and the others. This is Star Wars, it should have a happy ending with a beeping droid in a mushy end-sequence. Sorry for this unabashedly optimistic interruption.
  13. DS was just pathetically easy and trite. LS was more challenging, more fulfilling and ultimately more true to Star Wars.
  14. The game faded to black on several occasions, because of limitations in the engine.
  15. Hmm, i killed Carth in my DSF-game, though. Didn't have the heart to have Bastila do it. And Carth killed Dustil earlier(pure coincidence). EDIT: Erm, of course he didn't, then i wouldn't be able to kill him afterwards...i was just remembering a reload i did to see what Carth would say. The characters you get to meet will probably be limited by the ending you chose.
  16. Being one of those noobs that you're talking about, KotOR being my first and only RPG, i'll just have to trust you longtime RPG'ers. Even if you are a bunch of jaded cynics.
  17. The whole concept seems to mess with my games which were for the most part LS. Right now, all those hours of playing seem invalidated if everything falls after just five years. Hopefully there is some twist to this that will make sense. If they make Bastila dark again(i turned her, each time), it'll really tick me off.
  18. Maybe the Sith Lords are some of the old Dantooine council. Vrook, Dorak and Zhar are unaccounted for. They can't please everyone but they'd better please me!
  19. Is this FAQ based on the info from the EGM-article or something else? If it's the first then everything is subject to change.
