Well, in a sense, yes it is. Unfortunately its creator is deadly serious.

I've never heard of him. Can we infer then that he's in the habit of saying stupid things, because this:

It was. I remember threatening to turn him into glue. NWN2 should have bicycles!!! (w00t) (w00t) What?

Is a PST remake really that unfeasible?
SteveThaiBinh replied to Ginthaeriel's topic in Computer and Console
Since technology in gaming is moving so fast, PS:T will soon be as outdated as a black-and-white movie, if it isn't already. Ripe for a remake, perhaps? I don't think so. As with movies, publishers who want to remake old games are declaring that they have no ideas for new and original productions. This will just annoy precisely the kind of gamers who appreciated PS:T the first time. -

The only game I ever bought that was a remake of an earlier one was Quest for Glory 1. Sierra updated it from EGA to VGA graphics and put in mouse control and so on. I don't know how well it sold, but my guess would be that it was a labour of love rather than a big money-spinner. Hollywood is going through a big re-make phase at the moment, because quality old films seem to make money. It's possible that the phenomenon will transfer across to gaming, but I don't see Planescape: Torment as first in line for a makeover. Rightly or wrongly, the game has the reputation of being no great financial success and lacking mainstream appeal. Why exert energy shaking that reputation instead of starting with a clean slate? Better to let fans mod an updated version of PS:T one day. -
I haven't tested Alanschu's gun-only tips yet, though I plan to. If you decide to go this route, let us know how it goes.

It would be great to have a talking horse. Anyone remember Smith? Maybe even as a joinable NPC, though that might be pushing it a little.

No, you've conjugated the verb 'deet' incorrectly. In this case it should be 'deet deet' instead. What you wrote makes no sense at all. On Star Wars languages, I also hated Selkath, but maybe it sounds better underwater? It should be quieter, at least.

There's a maniac in the Whitehouse. All else is secondary. -

The reviews would just say "Buy the original, not this tarted-up imitation." 10 years from now fans will probably produce a Planescape: Torment mod for Dungeon Siege 5 or whatever. I think that will be enough for me. -
Poor Obsidian, they really don't need this kind of rubbish distracting them when they should be busy implementing horses in NWN2.

I thought Arcanum was great, too, the best of Troika's three games. I'm playing Baldur's Gate and while the constant pausing is OK, I'd much rather be using Arcanum's turn-based combat.

I remember having to dismount before every battle even to stand a chance. I can't remember exactly how it was disadvantaging my Battlemage in combat because I hate this game and have tried to forget, but the horses were a big disappointment. They were a cosmetic touch, but they seemed to die a lot and be more trouble than they were worth.

I was in fact mocking Bush's appearance, implying that the casual observer might easily confuse which was Bush and which the chimp. A truly cheap shot, and one of which I am heartily ashamed. All future attempts at humour will come with explanatory footnotes. *Accepts well-deserved punishment with resignation*

It's a step on the road to fluency, which some achieve earlier than others. It wasn't until after I was in Japan for about a year that I stopped needing to translate from English to Japanese in my head. I wasn't fluent by any means, I was just more confident with the knowledge and skills that I had - constant repetition helps a lot. The different word order means it's probably harder for the English speaker learning Japanese than learning French or Spanish, for example. I think it's harder for most people to become fluent in a language later in life, but harder isn't the same as impossible, and there are always exceptions.

It would be funnier if Bush were holding the sausage.

Don't Cry Over Spilled "Coffee"

Very good article, and very much to the point - consumer choice and parental responsibility in a free society. -
Not so. Observe: Congratulations to Russia for their medal in the skating. I did enjoy the guy's routine, I just wish the others hadn't fallen on their backsides quite so much. I wonder if the new scoring system is pushing them to attempt jumps that are beyond them, or if it was just the Russian guy psyching them out.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
SteveThaiBinh replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think Obsidian is working on signing something in the next few weeks - no idea whether it's Kotor 3 or not, and no way to know until they tell us. Maybe if there were a flurry of rumours from different sources, I'd get more hopeful, but this rumour comes from IGN again, same as the last one. I think (on the Creative Heads site) that the advert for senior programmer on an 'adventure' rather than 'action' RPG is more likely to be a mistake than anything else. -
What made that woman think creating such a guild would help in that predictament? I doubt she saw it as a way of educating homophobic gamers or changing their behaviour. I guess she wanted an environment where everyone agreed not to use 'gay' to mean stupid or make other nasty comments that many gays find offensive. Since this apparently means nothing more than enforcing Blizzard's own anti-discrimination rules, I don't see the problem. Sometimes it's nice to escape to a place where you don't have to pretend it doesn't matter for fear of attracting worse.

Yet some of its employees have moved on to jobs in companies that will take advantage of their creative talents and yet stay solvent. A good outcome, no?

Horses would be nice, but I've seen crappy horses in Sacred and it's much worse than having no horses at all. If Obsidian wants to cut stuff, it's good that they're doing it now and not, say, three weeks before the game goes gold. I wonder if the horses in Oblivion will have shadows.
