iAmburn Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 Can Mage Slayer be made viable for killing high priory casters, or is just melting them down with dps classes just as good if not better really. Any thoughts?
Climhazzard Posted May 14, 2018 Posted May 14, 2018 I think that -50% buff duration is a terrible malus to have and not at all worth the bonuses of the sub class. It'll even make frenzy shorter. Maybe some creative people out there will come up with decent builds for it though.
mammasaura Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 I'm playing Mage Slayer + Goldpact Knight and there isn't the -50% buff duration, the downsides are 2: you can't use potions / scrolls and you can resist to allies' spells.

Hmm you're right, I was sure I saw it in the description somewhere and gave it an automatic pass, but in game I can't find it. So either I was mistaken or there's a description somewhere they forgot to change from beta.
Lokithecat Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 Maia (companion) has a unique Ranger Sharpshooter class which is great for back row Mage killing. Her interrupts land pretty consistently, and she's high damage. Plus the tech weapons having Veil Piercing really helps deal with +deflection style mage buffs. Her accuracy can easily be raised up high enough for guaranteed hits, and fairly reliable criticals.
Yosharian Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 (edited) Wait, so there's no negative duration anymore? That's great. Wait, resist friendly spells? Why does Obsidian hate this subclass so much? Mage Slayer is crap, don't bother unless you are absolutely obsessed with the class. Edited May 15, 2018 by Yosharian Yosharian's Deadfire Builds
dunehunter Posted May 15, 2018 Posted May 15, 2018 (edited) I‘m expecting someone to mod the real Inquisitor into the game. Paladin subclass Inquisitor, trait: when use Sworn Enemy on target, target must do a Will check or get all beneficial buffs removed. Edited May 15, 2018 by dunehunter
