LordBlade Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 So I played through the first game (with all DLC) on GoG, but I have the new game on Steam. Is there any issues with importing saves?
draego Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 There shouldnt be the game is saved in same location whether you install from gog or steam
LordBlade Posted May 10, 2018 Author Posted May 10, 2018 The game won't remove my saves if I uninstall the game, will it? I basically just finished doing a "perfect" run of the first game in preparation for this one. But I'd like that space back.
GreenFire Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 (edited) Like you, I played the first game on GOG (no White March though) and bought this one on Steam. Started playing last night and the import seemed to work OK. Not sure about uninstalling though, maybe you want to copy and save that folder just in case. Edited May 10, 2018 by GreenFire
Sedrefilos Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 I've installed and uninstalled the game noumerous times. The saves are there unless you chose it to delete them. I only had a problem with save import. When I fired up Deadfire for the first time it couldn't find my old saves to import. I looked up and saw there were save point in two different places in my drive. Also my old saves were in no named folder (I'm not sure if I did something with them manually). So I had to create a folder named after my character and dump the saves in there and then copy them to the other location too. It worked. That said, I haven't heared of any other having importing problems. I recon my problem was because I had Pillas from GoG and Deadfire from steam, and they might keep saves in different locations.
Wormerine Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 When uninstalling game via gog it asks you if you want to remove settings and saves.
LordBlade Posted May 10, 2018 Author Posted May 10, 2018 So, which save specifically does PoE2 look for?
flamesium Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 I used a GoG PoE save with Steam Deadfire. The game found it automatically no hassle. It’s very unlikely that uninstalling PoE will delete your saves unless you go out of your way to do so. Start your Deadfire game and import save before uninstalling PoE if you don’t want to risk it.
GreenFire Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 The one that has "gamecomplete.savegame" in its name. So, which save specifically does PoE2 look for?
