Don't have beta and never tried Firebrand much in POE 1.

Is it worth multiclassing, say a fighter or paladin, with druid mostly for Firebrand? Doesn't have to be a top tier build, but would it be terrible?

If Firebrand hasn't been improved in full release then it's not worth it. If it has been improved to be more like the Spiritual Weapons (given a Flaming Lash) then it might be. It's worth noting that it's available to both Druids and Priests of Eothas so you've got some flexibility as to which classes you pick.

I think priests of Eothas no longer get Firebrand.

While Firebrand was very good in PoE now in Deadfire it's just crap.

It's just a regular (scaling) great sword that does burn damage instead of pierce damage. For that you invest an ability point, a spell use per encounter and a quite lengthy summoning time.

THe only situation where it would be useful is if you meet enemies which are very vulnerable to fire but have very high AR against pierce and slash damage.

That makes sense. I was just hoping it was comparable to the priest's spiritual weapons. I had envisioned a paladin wreathed in flames and swinging around a giant sword made of fire
