Unless he signs Lebron or coaches them after Lebron retires,  nah, I feel safe in my statement.

Tough times for the Cavs as of late.  First they get absolutely ANNIHILATED by the Raptors (people need to stop sleeping on T Dot), now tonight they blow a 22 point lead to the Pacers.  It's the regular season, they have plenty of time to work their kinks outt and get it in gear for the playoffs, but they look quite shaky right now.

Thomas (even though he didn't play tonight) is a HUGE issue. He is completely useless on defense and even on offense almost every time I see him drive the net he gets either blocked or twisted around because he is so damn short. Say what you will about Irving's  defense but at least he doesn't look completely outmatched. Thomas just looks like a child on the court. No opponent seriously feels threatened by Thomas. L0L

Yeah, for all of Isaiah's offensive prowess, he's a flat out liability on defense.

Front runner for Rookie of the Year at this point has to be Jayson Tatum, right?

I think Tatum is up there with Ben Simmons, but I'd give it to the Aussie right now.

Finally caught a few Cavs games and man does their defense suck, they just seem so low effort. I have no doubt they'll still coast into a decent spot in the playoffs but I'm not sure they'll make it to the finals unless they do something about that D.

PS how about Chris Paul's return to LA?

I'm trying to not overreact and I know the playoffs are all that matters, but the Cavs look bad and have for a really long time now.  Their defense isn't just bad, it's SHOCKINGLY BAD.  They need to do something about it or they won't even get to the NBA Finals, never mind have any chance against the Dubs or Rockets.

The Isaiah Thomas experiment is over in Cleveland, and the Los Angeles Lakers have freed up cap space to go after LeBron James and Paul George.

Hours before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline, the Cavaliers traded the point guard and forward Channing Frye to the Lakers for guard Jordan Clarkson and forward Larry Nance Jr.

The Lakers also get the Cavaliers' protected first-round pick in 2018.

And they aren't done yet

The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired Rodney Hood and George Hill in a three-team trade with the Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, completely reshaping the roster of the reeling three-time defending Eastern Conference champions before the trade deadline.

The Jazz reportedly received Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose from the Cavaliers, while the Kings landed Joe Johnson from Utah and Iman Shumpert from Cleveland. Sacramento will also get the Miami Heat’s 2020 second-round pick (via the Cavs) and $3 million in cash in the deal, according to USA Today.

They also sent Wade to the Heat for a second round pick

IT need to be dealt.  Their defense and their offence was worse with him nim.

Can't believe they traded Wade  for a silly pick.  He must have asked for it since he wasn't exactly paid a lot this season by CLE. Wade did solid work off the bench especially for what he was paid.

The big win here is getting rid of the Boston trash. LMAO

Hill is okay and the other pick ups are meh to me.

Thumbs up to the Cavs for managing to get rid of the decaying corpse of Derrick Rose.

Steve Kerr lets players run huddles as Warriors top Suns

With the grind of a long NBA season wearing on his team, Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr believed it was time for his players to hear a new voice in the huddle: their own.

Kerr turned over most of the coaching duties to his players on Monday night and they responded in fine fashion, playing with more focus than they had in recent weeks in a 129-83 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

"It's the players' team," Kerr said. "It's their team and they have to take ownership of it. As coaches, our job is to nudge them in the right direction, guide them. We don't control them. They determine their own fate. I don't think we've focused well the last month. It just seemed like the right thing to do."

Kerr said he told the players of his plan after the previous game and they ran the show for most of the day. Andre Iguodala took over at morning shootaround, JaVale McGee ran the computer for the film session and Iguodala, Draymond Green and David West got most of the work designing plays and running the huddle during timeouts.

That's an interesting approach

It helps that he has some great leaders to take the reigns, but he deserves for letting them go. He is the fastest ever to 250 wins, btw.

Why not both?

Anyways, these new look Cavs are ridiculously good. It's fuynny too since all 4 of them came from subpar teams yet on the Cavs they are looking good.

Looks like we've got some good playoff races in both the West and the East. At the top and bottom. When's the last time that happened?
