i discovered how to make the game tough :)

Recommended Posts

I did a full clear of act 1 with chanter before 2.0, every time - since i didnt know how to reliably get past the phantoms at that time (ToI)... (lvl 5 you could tank them with aumaua max might/con for the finish) because of no duration with summons it took ages to kill raedric...

you can do it now, too... but it takes too long, most of the time i rather restart the run than finish the fight.

Do any of you solo wiz people use Deep Pockets?

It seems less important for "pick any spell" classes like druids or priests, but given the pre-selected repertoire of the wizard, I'm thinking the flexibility of more quick-slots might be nice to have.  I haven't selected it yet though.  Anybody liking it for solo wiz?

How do you all handle paralyze/stun type effects?  I'm L8 now and got pretty well torn up in Lle a Rhemen.  I don't have any scrolls to protect against those effects yet, and don't have enough lore yet to use them anyway.  I try to get as much defense up as quickly as I can, but once the first paralyze gets through, that's it.  It's chain-lock after that...

I can come back to those groups later, but I expect I'll encounter quite a bit of this sort of thing before I have enough lore to cast the counter-scroll.

Fenwalkers are good for paralysis, as is the Orlan Bramble Ring. Blaidh Golan is best to reduce Stun duration and protect while stunned (particularly when you use a Preservation shield too as the effects stack). To actually ward against Stun in the first place the only thing you can use is Looped Rope (or play a Coastal Aumaua).

Equipping these and buffing your physical attributes as high as possible (Lyrinia's Boon, +3 Might or Con resting bonus, Goldrot Chew and Pearlwood Chicken, any physical boosting items you can get your hands on like Bracers of All-Consuming Rage) as well as using Scrolls of Defence is the best way to try and ward against these effects.

Btw because of Stun I'm convinced by now that coastal Aumaua is actually a lot better than I and many people saw it compared to Wild Orlan.

There's so many things you can do vs paralyze and even petrify but for stun you only have the talent to get +10 (which combined with the fort talent is very good nonetheless) and since Aumaua also gives +2 Mi it's not that shabby to begin with.
