I used to be able to play fine, as recently as a month or two ago. However, when I updated the game and purchased the new DLC, I'm now receiving a crash/error when trying to start the game.

As soon as I try to start the game, either by steam interface or through the pillarsofeternity executable, there is an error that reads:

Oops!
The game crashed.
The crash report folder named "2015-08-26_035934" next to game executable.
It would be great if you'd send it to the developer of the game!

I don't get to even see any of the splash screens, it just instantly errors out. I've attached the associated error folder and would appreciate any help in getting this game working again.

Hello, servantrider.  I'm sorry for the inconvenience.  If you could answer a couple questions for me and perhaps upload one more file I think I can be of greater help.

What operating system are you running, and what are the specs on your system?  A dxdiag file would pretty much answer all of that for me, as I'm not getting much from your output file.  Thanks for your support and patience during this issue.

Sorry, didn't think my system specs would matter since they haven't changed since I was able to run the game without issue :(

Attached my dxdiag

Hello again.  Your system specs look just fine.  Try verifying the integrity of the cache inside Steam and let me know if that helps and we'll go from there.  Thanks!

It failed to find a few thousand files and has to download a 3.3 GB worth of files. Can't download them at the moment though, since my internet is -extremely- limited during the day.

I'll be back around 3:00am EST or so to let you know if that helped.

Hello, servantrider.  I'll be gone by then for the day, but will check back with you tomorrow morning when I get here.  Thanks again, hopefully the 3.3G download will solve your issue!

Not a problem, have a good night then and thanks for the help! Y'all do a fantastic job replying to all the bugs / feedback :)

Updated and it's working now. Had one CTD just after starting but after that it's gone smoothly. On a side note, the enemy seems much harder to pick off stragglers now. Was that part of the AI improvements?

Hi there

It seems that i have exactly the same problem with the same error message

I have already done the cache check but it didn't change anything....

Here is the log file details....Can you help me ?

Hello lequenne,

Could you please upload a dxdiag file and an output log so I can take a look? Please refer to the link in my signature to locate those files.

Thanks a bunch!

Hi thanks for you reply

I posted all the files in the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Pillars of Eternity\2015-11-25_230044

Hope it will be enough .

I don't see any dx diag file, and i didn't seen the link in the signature to locate it.

Kind regards.

Yves

Hello lequenne,

The dxdiag file is your system spec file. : Press (windowkey + R), Type "dxdiag" and press Enter, Click "Save All Information", Attach the file that you create.

It seems that your graphics card is not being recognized somehow. Please upload a dxdiag (system spec) file and I can see what graphics card you have.

Thank you for your support.
