rnarchlord
It depends on the type of enemy you are wanting to hurt the most. If you check the bestiary in your journal it will show what type of damage is least effective so you choose the damage type that is most effective against that enemy. I usually have two sets of weapons, one with corrode and another with shock as those appear to be the most frequent damage types. This can be a helpful guide to most effective types of damage against specific enemies:Adragan - slash, burn freeze shock corrodeBeetle, adra - crush slash burn freeze corrodeBeetle, stone - crush pierce burn freeze shockBeetle, wood - crush freeze shock corrodeBlight, earth - pierce burn shockBlight, flame & wind - slash pierce crush shock corrodeBlight, rain - slash burn corrodeDragon, adra - crush pierce corrodeDragon, sky - slash pierce freezeDrake - slash crush freeze shock corrodeFampyr - slash crush pierce shock corrodeLurker, forest - slash crush freeze shock corrodeLurker, swamp - pierce burn shockMenpwgra - slash pierce burn freeze shock corrodeOgre - slash crush pierce burn shockPhantom - slash crush pierce shock corrodePwgra - slash crush pierce shock corrodeRevenant - pierce crush burn shock corrodeShade & Shadow - slash crush pierce corrodeSkeleton & Skeleton Fighter - crush burn shock corrodeSkeleton Ranger - slash crush burn shockSkeleton Rogue - crush pierce burn freeze shockSkeleton Wizard - crush pierce burn shock corrodeSpectre - slash crush pierce shock corrodeSpider, crystal eater - slash crush freeze burn shockSpider, ivory - pierce burn freeze shock corrodeSpider, spear - slash crush freeze shock corrodeSpider, widowmaker - crush pierce freeze shock corrodeSpore, dank - pierce burn shockSpore, swamp - crush burn shockSporeling - pierce burn shockTroll - slash pierce freeze shockVithrak - pierce shock

RtrnofdMax
Shades and Shadows are weak to fire. Corrode is a good middle ground since so many enemies are strong against fire, but you should at least have fire listed next to them.
rnarchlord
Shades and Shadows are weak to fire. Corrode is a good middle ground since so many enemies are strong against fire, but you should at least have fire listed next to them. They have a slight damage reduction to fire. I only listed the effects that have no damage reduction whatsoever to keep the list short. That is why I mentioned checking the bestiary. Otherwise I would have to decide on an arbitrary threshold as to damage reductione. g. <5, <10. If you all are willing all of you can add to the list those with very low damage reduction on this thread.
RtrnofdMax
Shades and Shadows only have less damage reduction vs fire. Since Corrode is unlisted, that means that means that is reduced by 8 for a shadow. DRs are only listed separately if they are greater than or less than the base DR. Fire/Burn is the best element for Shades and Shadows.
rnarchlord
I stand/sit corrected. I misread the DR. Mea Culpa!
RtrnofdMax
It is a bit confusing, but usually saves space over listing every single DR possible. There is a good list similar to what you made here.
Kaigen42
For what it's worth, when it comes to the question of elemental lashes on weapons, those are only checked against 25% of the enemies DR. If you compare enemies' highest elemental DR to their lowest, and divide by 4, it usually comes out to 3-5 points per hit at worst. If you've got a relevant elemental damage talent, that DR differential may be small enough to consider using a damage type that's normally not as useful. rnarchlord
Okay, I finally got my original post revised and reformatted. Hope it helps. Seems my blood shot weary eyes wandered into the wrong lines when I typed this that night. See this file for the final corrected version. Enchant POE.doc OOPS!
