Ingolenuru Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 If you beat the game then you cheesed it. 'Playing fairly' against the AI means that you would have failed 50% of the time. If you reloaded to win a fight you cheesed it. I think you get the point I am trying to make. There is no problem with min/maxing. If you want to role play then you do that with the dialogues. My point is that their is no reason to get hostile because how you play the game is how you have fun playing the game. Do you pause the game at any time during a fight? Is pausing at all fair to the AI? There are incremental steps but you can keep going back further and further until someone says that winning any fight isn't 'fair to the AI'. This is an old thread and outdated by newer content but it is easy to find during searches and still gives you a LOT of information that helps with character builds. It gives you a starting point and you can manage to use new content combine with this thread to see how tanks can be built. Role playing games always have persons who want to loose because that is only fair to the enemies and persons who never want to loose because loosing sucks. These are both valid styles of play because gaming is how you have fun and not how someone else would have fun being the way you have to play.
Bim Posted Wednesday at 09:50 AM Posted Wednesday at 09:50 AM Just started playing PoE and I stumbled onto this thread looking for information. I must say this guide is excellent. I appreciate the simple design, especially the color-code. The combative arguments against it are ridiculous and totally inappropriate for this type of discussion. OP clearly possesses good sense and understands how to put it to use in PoE. This guide is a much needed compilation of info about the Dedicated Tank, which is a very important role in these computer games. It is a shame OP took so much heat over his insights, which were probably so radically different from the other posters that they seemed like heresy. Perhaps OP would have made guides on the other types of Fighter if OP would have been encouraged instead of lambasted. I realize this is an old thread and it's already been necro'd once, but it is important that OP gets a recognition for his efforts because he hardly got any during the time that he actually posted it.

Elric Galad Posted Wednesday at 12:13 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:13 PM Just one thing : I'm pretty sure Unbending is underrated in this thread. From my experience with PoE2 and my memory from when a foe used it in PoE1 (the one dude carrying St Ydwen's Redeemer), I'm pretty sure one cannot be defeated by endurance loss while this ability is active. Self-healing is much more than the 50% damages taken displayed. Yes, it's 3 per rest, so you will rarely need it, but it basically guarantee you cannot be beaten for its duration, which can be 45s (+%INT) for a single fight.
Boeroer Posted Wednesday at 01:18 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:18 PM Glad I didn't participate in that discussion and spend my time on something more enjoyable. 1 Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
