So I got that scroll from thieves in the Woodend Plains and went back to the Hall of Revealed Mysteries to return it to Grimda only to have every single npc in there turn hostile on me! Is this a bug or a consequence of me stealing The Theorems of Pandrgam earlier and giving it to Nedyn in Brackenbury?

I read on a different thread that it is due to you stealing the scroll earlier.

But they also mentioned that if you go into the temple while stealthed, then the NPCs in there won't be hostile towards you, weird bug but seems to work

Still looks buggy to me because basically one quest prevents the completion of another without any warnings. Would have been better if npcs weren't hostile out of the blue - how could they have known it was me who stole the book? 

Could be a bug, but there is a way to "get around it" without too much difficulty

Yes, Thank god for this post, I was able to load up a previous save and zoned in stealth and was able to complete the task. whew...

This happened to me too.  Worst of all, because Autosave writes AFTER a transition and not before, I am boned unless I want to lose hours of gameplay and go back to a previous save...which I don't.

 

Also, I did not steal the Theorem scroll.  I did steal other stuff but I didn't get caught.  So to have the whole place go hostile after the fact, with no feedback, is jacked.

 

Finally, they are hostile and they attack me.  Why do I lose major defiance bay rep for defending myself?
