Headbomb Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 (edited) Just wondering if the game / backer beta actually makes use of multiple GPU setups. I'm aware that the game isn't fully optimized yet, but I'm getting 90 FPS in the Dracogen Inn with dips to 45 FPS during fights. Given I have an i7-4790K with 2 overclocked AMD R9 290 for setup, and these numbers compare with what I get in Crysis 3 on max settings... Because if I'm getting those numbers with this setup, I can't imagine the performance on the recommended spec (i5-2400, HD7700 / GTX 570). Edited March 21, 2015 by Headbomb
Justinian Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 It's not just multiple GPUs, it's also happening on reasonably powerful single GPUs too. My Radeon HD 6950 should not be dropping from 60fps ever, but it does during combat.
Flow Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Just wondering if the game / backer beta actually makes use of multiple GPU setups. I've tried on a couple of different systems (both fairly high end) and the game seems CPU-bound. I'm not sure GPU matters much above a certain threshold. Right now, I'm sitting at an i7-4790K / GTX 770 running at 1920x1200. Running around town I rarely drop below 100FPS. In big fights with lots of enemies and spell effects, I've seen it get into the high 50s. Never as low as 45.
Headbomb Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 (edited) 45 FPS was, I believe, after/during the inn massacre, with a bunch of glowing lootcorpses on the ground and spell effects going on. Just walking around town I get from 120 to 80 FPS. The game being CPU bound would make a lot of sense, although 90 FPS average seems low-ish for this processor. But then again, optimization probably isn't complete. Edited March 21, 2015 by Headbomb
AndreaColombo Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Whoa, down to 45 fps on a 4790K? Thank God I didn't keep my i5 4430...! "Time is not your enemy. Headbomb Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 Well it was only for a few frames. If you averaged it over a second, the average over that second was 52 FPS.
Amarantha Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I've never dropped under 80 fps even in high vfx situations. Rig consists of a 4930K oc'ed to 4.5GHz and 2 290x oc'ed to 1150/1600.

At 4k, I imagine it being much much worse... though I can effectively play skyrim with decent |High settings at 4K.. but less then 15fps when i tried once and crashed, with PoE Obsidian wrote: "those scummy backers, we're going to screw them over by giving them their game on the release date. AndreaColombo Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 (edited) Honestly, on a rig like that I would expect 100+ fps all the time from a game with 2D backgrounds. PrimeJunta Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 I have it on good authority that the version that's gone out to the press has seen serious performance optimizations, and more are on the way. I wouldn't draw too far-reaching conclusions based on the BB, even the latest build. 1 I have a project. It's a tabletop RPG. It's free. It's a work in progress. Find it here: www.brikoleur.com
