Just downloaded the game from Steam; tried to launch the game through Steam, and via the install folder, game fails to launch.

I get this error when I try to launch the game.

It's been 24 hours. Nothing has changed. No one has responded.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

I tried disabling all firewalls and bypassed routers.

Nothing has changed.

So glad I threw extra money for the Backer Beta. I knew I should have waited until this was released. Early Access strikes again.

Do you perhaps have a firewall blocking steam/PoE

I don't think you can run it directly from the folder because of the DRM that steam uses. It needs to be run from steam's lancher

Have you tried to verify the integrity of your game cache files? I ask because you didn't mention trying it.

This seems to be more oriented around a problem with Steam than a problem with the game itself. Google search on that error code suggests verifying the install integrity, disable F-Secure if you have that installed, or do a clean install from scratch again.

Cache verified as Ok. I'll try disabling F-Secure as Roby suggested.
