Kogorn733 Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 One of my favorite aspects of high level D&D play was the ability to create constructs of various kinds (i.e. golems). Is something along these lines possible in the game? It seems from the posts I've read about animancy that such a thing is possible in theory. A golem-ish type figure would be a very cool party member.
rjshae Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 They did show us Animats, which require sacrificing a warrior to infuse the spirit into a suit of bronze armor. But that is based on ancient technology, which may not be available. "It has just been discovered that research causes cancer in rats."
Ragniz Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 NWN2 vanilla and mask of the betrayer had golems and they already confirmed figurines so I would expect a upgradeable golem summon like Baldur's gate 2 or a golem character
Prometheus Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) We know that dyrwoodan animancers can make constructs(see quote below) and that defiance bay has many animancers. So I think it's likely that we will get quests about constructs. But I doubt that we will get a construct companion. It could be possible that you can make construct hirelings for your stronghold. e.g. sacrifice a prisoner to bind his soul in a construct. There is also an Animat(engwithan constructs) factory dungeon in the game. Animancers will sometimes capture souls when a person dies, but placing a soul back into a body that has already died usually produces *~ bad things ~*. Engwithans placed warrior souls into bronze armor to create animats (a Vailian term, not theirs), but animats have limited memory and consciousness. Dyrwoodan and Vailian animancers have been creating their own constructs using contemporary mechanics and metallurgy. Making a construct takes a lot of time and money, but the results have exceeded what the Engwithans were capable of on an individual scale. from the wiki. Edited June 28, 2014 by Prometheus
