FearMonkey
Steam URL: http://store.steampowered.com/app/213670/ PRE-PURCHASE NOW AND GET THE "ULTIMATE FELLOWSHIP" Content Pack Necromancer Sorcerer Costume: Bonus Fire Damage Ranger Elf Costume: Bonus Weapon Damage Rogue Assassin Costume: Bonus Gold Holy Defender Costume: Bonus Defenses Unfortunately I won't be pre-purchasing this game. I was looking forward to it, but I'm not paying $60 for PC games. I know it's out of Obsidian's hands but I have my principles. You see, the reason why games are $60 on consoles is because the publisher has to pay a license fee to the platform holder. That cost is roughly around $10. This is why PC games have historically been $10 cheaper than their console counterparts because there is no platform holder on PC. No, Microsoft does not own the "PC platform". Now publishers seem to be charging $60 for the PC game knowing full well that PC owners have "no choice" (ha!) to purchase them for that price. But all this does is line the publishers pockets with an extra $10. None of that money goes to the developer who are the ones who actually deserve it. If Obisidan was getting any of that extra $10, I'd be happy to pay the console tax on a PC game. But they aren't, so I won't. Gonna have to wait for a Steam sale on this one, guys. Sorry. Hassat Hunter
Ehm... it's 40 euro? Seems odd it would be 60 dollar then... ^ I agree that that is such a stupid idiotic pathetic garbage hateful retarded scumbag evil satanic nazi like term ever created. At least top 5. Pandamaniac
He is right: it is $60 USD. Which is odd, since it means I could get it *cheaper* in Europe. Maybe Ubi is trying to change which side of the Atlantic gets price gouged?!
Bryy
.... I AM GOING TO PRE-PURCHASE THIS SO HARD $60 NOPE. My entire reaction.
Elerond
$60 ~ 44€ (0.7399 euros per dollar), so game is bit cheaper in Euro area, although usually prices in steam uses 1:1 conversation rate between dollar and euro, which is usually explained by higher VAT in Euro countries [although highest VAT in Euro area is 25%, and average is 20% and there is also VAT free zones, and euro is usually nearer to 0.7€ per $1 than 0.75€ per $1]. Although it seems that in NA console and PC versions have same price where in Euro area PC version is 20€ cheaper than console versions, so it seems that Ubisoft has for some reason raised price for PC version in NA, which seem somewhat odd move. WorstUsernameEver
My question is, will it be necessary to pass through Uplay to play when whe buy it on steam? Funny thing. Uplay isn't mentioned on the Steam page. I just checked Far Cry 3's page for comparison, and Uplay is listed under the hardware requirements, but otherwise there's no mention of it. Considering there are no minimum/recommended specs for South Park yet, I wouldn't really take that to mean that Uplay won't be needed. In this case, it's really better to assume it's going to be needed until stated otherwise.
lordgizka
Well, I did pre-order it, simply because a) Obsidian; b) South Park; and c) Russian Steam prices are dirt cheap. There is also practically no information about the game, even in the released gameplay footage. I mean, I get that it's a turn-based RPG with some adventure game elements, but that's literally all we know (or I haven't been keeping up with the interviews). I would certainly like to know how customizable the classes' abilities are (if at all), or if the game is non-linear to some degree, or how much content is there overall. But NOPE, there is nothing. Lioness
My question is, will it be necessary to pass through Uplay to play when whe buy it on steam? On the shop.ubi.com, the OPs 4 pre-order costumes are advertised as Uplay exclusive pre-order bonus items. I would say, yes, it seems Uplay is needed,... unless they are wrong/lying on ubi's shop page and they are not in fact exclusive to Uplay pre-order. Kordian
Supposedly PC version will not have Uplay integration... Despite being an Ubisoft game now, South Park: The Stick of Truth doesn't require or even use Uplay in any way. The news comes from developer Obsidian, who took to its Twitter account to confirm the PC version is a Steam game, and a Steam game only.As AusGamers notes, The Stick of Truth was a THQ game in a past life, so perhaps that's why it's not integrated with Ubisoft's distribution and DRM service. Obisidian didn't offer an explanation in its answers to fans' questions.Whether or not the news leaves you happier than a poop at Christmas, the game is less than a month out. The Stick of Truth thwacks North America on March 4, Europe March 6. LadyCrimson
Yeah...it was confirmed here also in this recent thread posting by Darren Monahan. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/64959-will-ubisoft-implement-drm/?p=1414536 “Things are as they are. FearMonkey
Uplay or no, it's still $60 for a PC game.
C2B
Uplay or no, it's still $60 for a PC game. A lot of PC Games are 60 at release. I understand that its still a lot. About your reasoning though. For me its the exact opposite. I couldn't justify a higher price point on a console game. I mean where's the benefit for me? Why should I care about that process?A pc game offers me (usually) more options regarding resolution and framerate. That's something I would pay more money for. That benefits me too. And thats why the same price point on pc and consoles is not a problem for me. Edited February 5, 2014 by C2B
