Making a full suit of armour behave like a Faraday cage would be realistic, but I guess this is one area where intuitiveness is more important.

Magic not always ignoring armour is A Good Thing, at the very least. There will doubtless be some spells that don't give a damn about it, and lots that target reflexes and psyche rather than deflection, but spellcasters never caring about an opponent's armour is boring as all heck.

if the item description specifies that metal armors redirect the electrical current of the spells giving extra lightning protection, it becomes imediatelly intuitive that if you face a guy with metal armor, it would be a waste to use lightning

The words freedom and liberty, are diminishing the true meaning of the abstract concept they try to explain. The true nature of freedom is such, that the human mind is unable to comprehend it, so we make a cage and name it freedom in order to give a tangible meaning to what we dont understand, just as our ancestors made gods like Thor or Zeus to explain thunder.

What? You thought it was a quote from some well known wise guy from the past?

Stupidity leads to willful ignorance - willful ignorance leads to hope - hope leads to sex - and that is how a new generation of fools is born!

We are hardcore role players... When we go to bed with a girl, we roll a D20 to see if we hit the target and a D6 to see how much penetration damage we did.

Modern democracy is: the sheep voting for which dog will be the shepherd's right hand.

I'm of the opinion that if you're talking about descriptive text, you left intuition behind three towns back.

Don't get me wrong, I think it'd be cool to have armour deal with electricity in a realistic manner, but what they're doing makes sense in its own way.

are they? we only know that armor will protect from spell damage, but what damage will each armor protect from and how is not yet revealed unless i missed something

I'm 99% certain I've seen Josh specifically mention electrical attacks doing extra damage to people wearing metal armour. Granted, that was a while back, and I guess it could have changed since then.

it only works as a faraday cage if it doesn't touch you. if the metal touches the skin at any point, it no longer defends you from the electrical currents.

Remember: Argue the point, not the person. Remain polite and constructive. Friendly forums have friendly debate. There's no shame in being wrong. If you don't have something to add, don't post for the sake of it. And don't be afraid to post thoughts you are uncertain about, that's what discussion is for.

Pet threads, everyone has them. I love imagining Gods, Monsters, Factions and Weapons.

Yea, like sitting in your car while lightning bolts strike down. Perhaps this means that crushing blows on electrified may increase the chance of being electrocuted? Even the concept of "critical" may cover such an unfortunate event?

*** "The words of someone who feels ever more the ent among saplings when playing CRPGs" ***

Now I'm imagining people completely naked underneath their armour. Getting electrocuted would be the least of your issues then...
