PK htiw klaw eriF
So that is why the British keep posting "Ding Dong the Witch is dead" on twitter. I agree with their sentiment. From your intimate knowledge of the subject, living halfway around the world and an ocean away from the United Kingdom. Or from my intimate knowledge of the subject, derived from being good friends with and related to several people who lived in the UK when she was in charge. I assume that statement came from your intimate knowledge of who I am, which is impressive considering that I am posting under screen name on a videogame company's forum. I assume you are also aware of what music I listened to as a teenager, where I attended high-school and the circumstances of how I lost my virginity. Nepenthe
Yeah, let's not assume that the kleptocratic post-collapse redistribution of wealth in former communist countries is a standard for the behaviour political leadership. People are the same everywhere. Businessmen and politicians in particular. Its just a question of how likely they are to get away with something. Believe whatever you want to believe. Exactly, it's a question of how likely anybody is to get away with anything, including the "vanguard of the proletariat", the Skorpioni and whoever, certainly not limited to politicians or "businessmen". The problem with you, judging by the example you picked is that you're convinced of your own cultural superiority in the matter. The only place that will lead you to is ignorance. No, I'm just not convinced it's inferior. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions
Walsingham
I re-iterate the point that Margaret Thatcher wouldn't have given a salt and vinegar **** about people partying after her death. That's what 'contempt' is all about, and she was utterly contemptuous of the kind of people who are doing the partying. That contempt was one of her critical weaknesses, because ultimately she disregarded too many people. But without it she wouldn't have got anything done. Personally I'd rather people partied after MY death than ignored me, as seems rather more likely. Edited April 14, 2013 by Walsingham "It wasn't lies. No doubt that qualifies as intimate knowledge. Especially intimate knowledge that doesn't get skewed by any sort of perspective biases at all. If I were good friends and related with people that lived in the uK while she was in charge and they said this whole trashing of her character was complete bollocks, I'm sure you'd consider my intimate knowledge to be roughly on par with yours.

I didn't say that it was completely unbiased. Obviously there is going to be some bias, because Thatcher was an extremely polarizing figure. And sure, your intimate knowledge is on par with mine, just coming from different perspectives. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man
