Its never going to happen. RPG games are a niche market.

Maybe ToR, although its not likely.

Why do you think Bioware is pushing all their games more and more towards action games then?

Its still not going to happen, because they suck at action gameplay - its nowhere near as intense/interesting as what the competition is offering.

They'll never manage to push the concept of a shooter/RPG so far to make it sell like CoD, which is why I criticized this approach from day one.

But, who cares.

The lack fo BIO not selling 8mil copies has nothing to do with them 'sucking' at action games (I'd take JE and ME over the vast majority of full blown action games any day of the week); but has to do with BIO's rep as a very popular in a very niche RPG market. Nor, do they need to do. EA didn't pay a billion dolalrs for them because they thoguht BIo was a 'failure'. LMAO

Disagree. ME2 already had better action flow than Gears of War 2.

I found the ME games to have the most boring, predictable and unvaried action gameplay without a shred of tactics/fine aiming skills some shooters demand or at least mindless fun of the GTA sort.

In fact ME played like RPG autocombat only you had to babysit the main character.

As for the Bethesda lawsuit... makes you wonder if they do it out of a sense of obligation (a google search by their lawyers came up with hits on keywords in their up coming game title) or they (the lawyers) are just trying to justify their payroll by appearing to be doing something. Their performance against Interplay hasn't exactly earned them much bonus I would guess.

In my experience, the dickwad making these decisions in most corporations is not a lawyer. The poor bastards have enough work without googling for random words related to products. It's kind of like gun control. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Lawyers don't make idiotic lawsuits, the people who they work for make the decisions.

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

The way they show you aryans drinking champagne in the first class, while you're crammed in economy between the fat dude and the screaming kids on a 20 hour intercontinental Swissair flight sure as hell amounts to a conspiracy. Wallet apartheid is what it is.

I'm not that impressed. The character models are just weird. Might buy it when it's very cheap.

Some stuff of canceled Silicon Knights game "The Ritualist":

In March 2009 quite a few from The Box team were laid off/departed from SK. I thought that it was Sega who cancelled The Box during that time as they dropped many other projects from external Western studios (Cipher Complex, Aliens RPG, Aliens: Colonial Marines). Hence I believed that Dyack was able to secure a short-term contract with THQ for Darksiders in order to avoid even more layoffs.

Only a few days ago I saw the court files from the Epic case. In there it said that Sega dropped The Box (it was already called The Ritualist at that time) in August 2008, not in March 2009. THQ took over publishing duty. That is an even better explanation for the Darksiders contract. In February/March 2009 THQ announced that they were in some severe financial troubles; they closed/sold several studios and shattered projects, including SK's The Box. Either as some kind of help or contractual obligation to SK, THQ offered some of The Box staff to help on Darksiders.

In the meantime, The Box has not found a new publisher (who would have to pay some money to THQ) in spite of being in development for roughly 3.5 years. Should've shipped in late 2009 when THQ took over.
