I've got the following problem:

When I try to start the demo from Steam, it is simply crashes to the desktop.

I've tried:

1. Update drivers and DirectX

2. Re-install the demo

3. Triple checked the integrity of Steam files

4. Re-installed VC++ 2008 Redistributable (both non SP and SP1).

5. In addition to the 2008 redist, I've installed the 2010 and 2005 redistributables. Still no luck

6. Monitored HW - no problems detected

7. Restarted OS several times

8. Tried to run from Admin

9. Tried to run with compatibility mode (XP and Vista)

I just ran out of the ideas what to do next.

My specs:

OS: Windows 7 x64 Professional with SP1

CPU: i7-2600 @ 3.40GHz (SandyBridge)

M/B: ASUS P8P67 Pro (B3 rev)

RAM: 4Gb DDR3

Video: AMD Radeon 5770HD (PowerColor, 1Gb GDDR5)

Other software installed (which may interfere in my thoughts): Visual Studio 2010 (as a programmer, cannot live without it) and Visual Studio 2008

All other titles run just fine, without any problems.

Info from EventLog is in the attached file: ErrorLog.xml

Could you be so kind please and help me with this issue? I believe this issue is not the one and personal, since I've noticed couple of identical complains on Steam forums.

Thanks!

First Duke Nukem Forever with the demo and now this ... its like they dont give a dam about ATI cards anymore XD

People have even the most recent cards "best ones" and they still have problems with the game ...

Please find a fix for it or something ...

Just look at this steam thread ...

Game runs fine on my 5850, so I wouldn't just assume that everyone with Ati has problems or they don't care. Having this kind of bugs, or indeed, any bug sucks though, so I'm sorry you have to deal with this kind of problem. Hope a solution can be found soon.

I totally agree with the assumption about AMD/ATI. The demo crashes happily on the nVidia cards too, according to the forums topics in Internet.

By the error log, it seems to be some problem with the VC redistributable. As you've checked and double checked, I'm stumped.

Perhaps you should search the net for previous problems between Visual Studio games that use the redistributable.

Game crashed for me too on startup. Had to restart Steam, then it worked.

Thanks, already did that. However, the problems with VS and games were resolved by the game patches (most frequent were UbiSoft games).

Also, I tried all versions of VC++ redistributables available at this moment with demo - no luck.

How I tried - deleted all other redistributables and install one at the time (deleting previous ones).

Unfortunately this is not helping, but thanks.

Also, for some unknown reason, the integrity check always re-downloads one file (InstallScript.vdf). I've compared the couple of versions between downloads - they are identical to the last bit.

Problem still exists.

I'm really at a loss as to why your crash is happening.

Crush on start.

Core i7-2600

Problem still exists.

I suppose you are the same UkrainianDM who is on the Steam forum? Otherwise, you should go there, there is a thread where someone is gathering information to try and resolve the bug.

There's another guy on Steam's forums with the same problem that is also Ukrainian. Follow the instructions by ObsidianEnt here.

You're right, I use same UID on the different forums. And I highly disappointed with this bug, so I try to reach someone who may help with the problem by the all ways possible.

my language is already set to English US and getting the error ... so it doesnt fix anything for me XD
