The Witcher II

??????????????????????????????????????????????

During the rare "stealth" sequences of the game, you can often expect yourself stuck to a wall when you don't want to.

Less than lighting candles instead of bashing in brains when you wish too, though...

There was a cover system in ME1? :p

Joking aside, I don't think I used much cover in the game, even on insanity, so considering it's optional nature, I'd consider it a small problem and doubt that removing it would have made the game better...

I got stuck on cover once or twice in a bad moment, so actually yes, it would've been better. :p

Same here, same here. So yeah...

I loved it in GTA, a very welcome change. some of the firefights are insanely tough if you don't use covers.

No?

It was quite fun to have a console-playing friend of me have so much issues with shooting, while I breezed through pretty much all the time. Cover just got in the way, especially if enemies spawn in on a timer, so you better clean up fast...

and that the AI is designed so guards will (supposedly, at least according to demo's they've given) randomly look behind them and such like.
Nice touch indeed, but sadly it's not random.

There is enough variation to make it unpredictable, with the added touch of the radar only targeting known assailants (either through sound or visual) and with a very limited range. Its a fairly entertaining challenge.

On the MSG comments: I tend to cut the game some slack because of two things:

1) The MSG series began the genre of action stealth

2) Its style that of fantastic realism, so they obviously don't go for the same kind of mechanics as SC

One thing that bothered me about SC mechanics; at least on the first 3 games (the last two should be struck from canon) is the grading system and the lineal progression that it had. Probably because I became accustomed to MSG.

But as a comparison it's more like R6 than both MSG and SC.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*
