Ok just roll with me here. Lets say you are wondering around the wastes and somthing happens you get knocked out or pass out. Then you wake up in a bed you are playing as the vault dweller from Fo1! you do some quick rememerable quest and the whole main quest is wrapped around the master from Fo1. :) This would be real treat for us players and help explain what the FEV is and how the mutants began considering that Fo3 and New Vegas have hardly touched on. In fact when they do talk about it in Fo3 it sounds more like the GECK made them. You meet the master who looks exactly and talks exactly like he did in Fo1. but before you meet him you are forced to remove all your gear and the super mutants dump it in a box or locker and you finally talk to the master this is like a one time thing like operation anchorage. so you finally wake up and you notice a container in front of you. you check it out and all of your gear is in it! it was blasted all the way to you from the small nuke that master used to kill himself. just roll with it tell me what you think and make sure obsidian sees this!!!!! :ermm:

So your idea for a DLC is a remake of FO1.

No offense, but that's a bit big.

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Meh, I'd rather play Fallout then a re-make for Fallout 3/Fallout: New Vegas. :)

"Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum."

OP doesn't sound like a remake, just revisiting the Master & FEV. It would be interesting if they took an alternate take on what happened back then, but the whole VR stuff gets pretty damn far-fetched when you make it the core mechanism. And I guess the thing is if you played FO1, then you got a very good lowdown of the whole business already.

1. It's an ok idea, and would be entertaining

2. You would have to make the dev requirement hugely simple in order to outweigh the cost of producing it

3. I personally think the idea of keeping all the kit from your hallucination sucks

The key point here is making the dev costs very light. Given the size of FO1, however, I'd suggest you'd need some way of harvesting the data from the old game automatically, and then having a human play through and correct any weirdness.

Developing a tool to do that automatic harvesting would be the greatest challenge here. You'd need some sort of genius, or a team of good programmers.

Unfortunately now that you have presented your idea no-one can use it.. legal liability and all that.

Obsidian are welcome to use any of my ideas stated on these boards, excluding those relating to Kelly Brook.
