I wasn't a big fan of FarCry 2, but I genuinely liked Crysis.

So far Borderlands is... okay, I guess, but I can totally see it turning into a never-ending laundry list of "Kill X things, bring me Y thingamabobs." The visual style is fantastic, but once you realize the direction the game is going in, you're either stoked or you stop playing immediately (I did the latter).

I feel a disturbance in the force. It's as though a hundred devs simultaneously facepalmed, and then fell silent bc the nda is still in place.

I second Tron 2.0

I'm not that great a shooter fan myself, but enjoyed Tron 2.0. One of the most fun games I've played.

And if you haven't played the Jedi Knight games, starting from Dark Forces 2 (old but still a lot of fun) I recommend those.

Oh, Jedi Knight games - I loved those.

Changed my mind at the last minute and plumped for Dark Messiah, firing it up now. Will give feedback... in the DM thread I guess. Crysis still on the radar.

Assassin's Creed, Bayonetta, Uncharted.

Crysis is okay, but nothing special- its a tech demo IMO.

In 7th grade, I teach the students how Chuck Norris took down the Roman Empire, so it is good that you are starting early on this curriculum.

I understand your point, and I sorta agree. But I think the technology is used well enough to make a gameworld that is interesting to play through. For a linear game, it's quite open ended how you achieve your objectives.

Plus I think the suit was a work of genius. It adds a whole new level to the Farcry-esque gameplay.

Its not a classic game or anything, but it's a solid recent action game.

As far as FPS games go of its sort, I'm hard pressed to think of many better in the last few years. STALKER. Maybe FEAR, although I preferred Crysis to FEAR in a big way.

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.
