Morgoth
How is it actually? Is the PC version playable? I heard it's buggy as hell. Should I or should I? Rain makes everything better.
Cl_Flushentityhero
The main issue I have is HD access. The game tries to stream the city as you drive around, which leads to a noticeable hiccup on my rig (7200 rpm USB interface). Some people might say that makes the driving unplayable, but I managed. I got it on D2d's $5 sale, so I feel I got my money's worth.
Purkake
Why would you ever play anything off of a USB interface? That's for storing stuff, not for high-bandwidth low-latency access. Anyway, from what I've heard the PC port is horrible. Edited October 15, 2009 by Purkake

Hurlshort
One of my favorite games ever, I even bought it twice, on the 360 and the PS3. But I haven't tried the PC version.

Same reason my gaming rig is a laptop: mobility. It's actually worked pretty well for me over the last 4 years.
Purkake
Yeah, but why not install games on the main HDD and keep other stuff on the USB one? I'd play nothing short of a flash game off a USB interface.
Kaftan Barlast
I thought it was friggin' awesome, seriously. I had tons more fun than with GTA4, and the story is good for a videogame. It runs a bit slower than it should on the PC but the 360 version is so fugly its unplayable. Dawg, dis be mah niggahz right here yo! Deadly_Nightshade
I got it on D2d's $5 sale, so I feel I got my money's worth. You can use that CD-key on Steam - it's one of the few games from D2D where they overlap and thus makes the possible. As for teh game, I would say it's worth it. "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot

I'd play nothing short of a flash game off a USB interface. My gig ratio of game/other stuff is incredibly high, whereas my internal/external storage ratio is incredibly low. And, not to put too fine a point on it, have you ever actually done a comparison running the same game on a 7200 rpm internal vs. external via USB2? I have, and the difference isn't as dramatic as you imply.
Purkake
I switched out the 2.5'' 5400 rpm 80GB HDD from my netbook to a snazzy 7200 rpm 320GB one and it is noticeably faster. It could have something to do with the 80GB one being pretty crappy but the read/write speed is almost twice as fast now.
alanschu
It could have something to do with the 80GB one being pretty crappy That's my bet.
Purkake
I looked it up, I went from an older generation Seagate Momentus 5400.3 to a 7200.3 so it wasn't really crappy, just older.
alanschu
If you are getting twice the read/write performance with the 7200 I'd be pretty surprised. But hey, more power to you.
Purkake
I think the updated firmware helps a bit as well, ASUS really likes to update their firmware. But yeah, 7200 rpm laptop drives are pretty sweet, especially until solid state drives become affordable. H
The game itself is p. good, but by supporting Steam (or any other digital distribution service) you support the Antichrist.
Hell Kitty
It's fab. The player character is a real jerk. The game does being bad better than the silly evil options you typically find in RPGs.
Kaftan Barlast
The 'jerkiness' level varies somewhat depending on what voice you choose for the PC. You can go to a plastic surgeon and switch voices, then you can watch all the cutscenes with that voice enabled. I played most of the game with the black female voice, the actress who did that one was awesome. I hope they hire to do VO's for SR3, that would be so sweet that I lack superlatives. Might need to have subtitles enabled, though. ...and its not gay to play a game as a hawt chick, its in fact the opposite of gay.
