Will the PS3 version of the game have trophies? And are you guys going to use the tilt features for anything cool, like ripping off Facehuggers?

What's a trophy?

 

I mean I know what one is in a general sense, but not specifically as it relates to PS3 features. Are they something PS3 gamers can collect or something?

"Archievements"

 

Examples for Aliens:

 

Have your faced "hugged" 12 times before killing your first facehugger.

Gain not a single XP.

Kill all aliens in the game.

...and the humans too.

...+cats.

Giving birth to an alien award.

Beat an Alien Mother in hand-to-hand combat.

Exactly. Those sorts of things. Weird little side quests and alternate ways to play the game.

You read my mind, Mr. Almighty.

Downloadable content is starting to come in it's own. I will order any content that contains levels or new challenges, espcially new maps, having fun doing this with other games on the PS3. It's just a new wave, I really see the console owing gaming for the next 2-3 years, especially with all that Dram root stuff they keep adding in PC games.

New Items, suits and especially skins, ill never pay for, but if it's high rated maps and levels, yes ill pay for those. To automatically say something like "new shallow levels slapped on" is short sighted.

New maps alone don't make sense in an RPG. Now if it is some sort of an addon with it's own plot and new voice-over work, I'm all for it.

I used to be a pure PC gamer, hating the whole console thing, but as you get a bit older, you realize playing on a nice couch in front of a 50 inch HDTV without having to upgrade your PC/TV every year with new video cards and all of that BS, it's much more convenient and fun on a console. Besides, almost every new game is now getting a higher rating on console than it is on PC. I havent updated my PC since 2004, and I see no reason to, not when games like Battlefield Bad Company, Star Wars Force Unleashed, etc are only available for console. I might update it when the new star wars MMO comes out, that's if it doesnt come out on console as well. Pc is for work, Console is for gaming, for me at least.

 

Keep ripping new games for free, you'll soon realize why they will only make them for console, nothing wrong with paying for a game if you really want it. Otherwise what is the point for thes companies to keep making games, for people like you to play them for free? Get real..

I think we're talking about free DLC here. And that's not always the case on consoles.

I buy all the games I like, but yeah, not the ones that are given the shaft (GTA IV for example). But I might change my mind if it's fun (and works fine, which I am going to doubt).

I enjoy DLC, and while PC gamers may have had extra content beyond the original product many years before anyone tried to do it on the consoles, it was called an "expansion pack." And for us law-abiding citizens, it cost money. It wasn't free (usually).

Trials of the LureMaster was free.

Witcher Enchanced Edition was free.

All the various plugins for Morrowind were free (Another point where Oblivion failed).

Dungeon Siege (1) had 2 free expansions (one for the original, one for the X-pack).

BG2 had 2 extra vendors for free.

The Sims (besides all the expansions) also had free downloads.

 

Etc. etc. etc.

It wasn't free (usually).

 

I realize that there was free DLC for PC games. But the amount of free content out there was always smaller than the amount of content you had to pay for.

I'm fairly sure it's a requirement to take advantage of Trophies on PS3 and Achievements on Xbox360 for all shipped titles these days, isn't it?

Only 360 achievements are always required. Trophies aren't.
