PCIe X1 Slots

Recommended Posts

Is there any use for these yet? The only thing that I have found is the cheapo soundcard that comes with the motherboard. They were better off putting in additional PCIe X16 or even PCI slots than those little worthless things.

Now they come out with something after I already bought a sound card for it when I put the computer together.

I'll keep that sound card in mind. Eventually I'll upgrade my single ATI 3870 in this computer to something along the lines of 2 dual 4870 cards if and when they make them. Or something better when time goes by. My current soundcard occupies a PCI slot which would be in the way if I had two wide cards installed. Board designers are pretty intelligent in placement of slots.
