CoM_Solaufein
Is there any use for these yet? The only thing that I have found is the cheapo soundcard that comes with the motherboard. They were better off putting in additional PCIe X16 or even PCI slots than those little worthless things. CoM_Solaufein
Now they come out with something after I already bought a sound card for it when I put the computer together. samm
There are also TV-cards, Lan cards, RAID controllers... Whatever used to be in PCI slots is slowly migrating to PCI-Express x1. Citizen of a country with a racist, hypocritical majority
Bokishi
Yup, I don't use PCI slots for anything now Current 3DMark
CoM_Solaufein
I'll keep that sound card in mind. Eventually I'll upgrade my single ATI 3870 in this computer to something along the lines of 2 dual 4870 cards if and when they make them. Or something better when time goes by. My current soundcard occupies a PCI slot which would be in the way if I had two wide cards installed. Board designers are pretty intelligent in placement of slots. Enoch
Yeah, at some point when the market has a stronger selection of mid-level PCIeX1 soundcards, I'm planning to grab one and get off of mobo sound.
Magister Lajciak
My sister has a soundblaster card in that slot, but I don't know anybody else using it.
