CoM_Solaufein Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Is there any use for these yet? The only thing that I have found is the cheapo soundcard that comes with the motherboard. They were better off putting in additional PCIe X16 or even PCI slots than those little worthless things. Bokishi Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 I got an X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty in my x1 slot Current 3DMark
CoM_Solaufein Posted July 20, 2008 Author Posted July 20, 2008 Now they come out with something after I already bought a sound card for it when I put the computer together. samm Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 There are also TV-cards, Lan cards, RAID controllers... Whatever used to be in PCI slots is slowly migrating to PCI-Express x1. Citizen of a country with a racist, hypocritical majority
Bokishi Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Yup, I don't use PCI slots for anything now Current 3DMark
CoM_Solaufein Posted July 21, 2008 Author Posted July 21, 2008 I'll keep that sound card in mind. Eventually I'll upgrade my single ATI 3870 in this computer to something along the lines of 2 dual 4870 cards if and when they make them. Or something better when time goes by. My current soundcard occupies a PCI slot which would be in the way if I had two wide cards installed. Board designers are pretty intelligent in placement of slots. Enoch Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Yeah, at some point when the market has a stronger selection of mid-level PCIeX1 soundcards, I'm planning to grab one and get off of mobo sound.
Magister Lajciak Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 My sister has a soundblaster card in that slot, but I don't know anybody else using it.
