Xard Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 So, what's best free program to convert FLAC's to MP3's? How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them. - OverPowered Godzilla (OPG)
Spider Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I use Foobar 2000 + LAME encoder. Excellent quality and all free. Don't think there are better options. Foobar is also an excellent music player (although somewhat complicated to set up if you want to get into advanced stuff). Links: http://www.foobar2000.org/ http://lame.sourceforge.net/index.php (I'm not even sure you actually need to get LAME separately, could be included in Foobar. I happen to have both so I'm not sure)
Xard Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 Thanks, but how can I get this thing to work? I've downloaded both of them but just can't make it work, I should find lame exe but there isn't one. Huh? How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. Spider Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Yeah, the lame link was poorly chosen, didn't check it beforehand. Uncompiled version. This one is better: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Lame_Encoder.htm
Xard Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 It works now, thanks How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them. - OverPowered Godzilla (OPG)
Spider Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 (edited) Sorry, double post. Sometimes tabbed browsing is a bad thing... Edited February 11, 2008 by Spider
kmitch Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Another option is a vbscript I've written that uses command line tools to convert and/or synch your library from FLAC to MP3: http://code.google.com/p/reflacer/ -K
Lare Kikkeli Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 (edited) Exact Audio Copy or Foobar, both use LAME so it's basically just a different GUI. I use EAC for ripping and Foobar for converting. Edited December 14, 2009 by Lare Kikkeli
Tigranes Posted December 16, 2009 Posted December 16, 2009 You can just use the Disk Write output in Winamp. It might not do it as well as everything else but it's an option if you don't want the hassle of all these programs.
