Hildegard
OK so I've got the original Rome Total War game on my PC that I haven't played for ages and now I'm aware there are two expansions packs released if I'm not mistaken. Which of them two comes first and must be installed first and how do they compliment each other and what are their advantages and what new do they bring to the game...does anyone here have XP with that? Shryke
not sure about the Alexander one, but i really wasn't all that fond of Barbarian Invasion in my opinion, stick with vanilla Rome, or maybe try out the Total Realism mod when your mind works against you - fight back with substance abuse! Musopticon?
Well, if you want to just play the vanilla Rome:TW, then you don't really need anything else except the latest patch. Now, Barbarian Invasion in itself isn't very interesting(besides being hellishly difficult if you star with it), but it does rise the game's version number enough that all the latest mods work, like of instance Total Realism Platinum+Metronaval Mod, Europa Barbarorum, Ran no Jidai(if it's out yet, I'm terribly lost on the mod scene ever since I left my computer home) all need Barbarian Invasion. Or some interesting metamodding, but that's not really your thing, I bet. There's also several mods that make Barbarian Invasion vanilla campaign pretty awesome. As for Alexander, I haven't played it, but apparently there's a small mod sub-community for it, so it might be worth getting. I keep hearing that the vanilla campaign is pretty horrible though. Then again, it's Megas Alexandros, the period does have it's own appeal. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Xard
I disagree on Barbarian Invasion. It is great expansion pack and vastly superior to Vanilla Rome. Very Hard/Very Hard with Western Roman Empire = best, campaign, evarr However, what really make this game so great are its mods such as Rome Total Realism (you can't play Vanilla again after trying this) or Europa Barbarorum. But Barbarian Invasion rocks. I've heard Alexander expansion pack is very hard and sucks, not really worth its money edit: Since I found Vanilla BI to be awesome I wonder what these mods that are supposed to make BI campaign better are? If the difference is as big as with Vanilla Rome and its mod... whew, that would be mind numbingly good. Edited February 9, 2008 by Xard How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. I dare you to show your builds and I will tear you apart in an arugment about how these builds will won them. - OverPowered Godzilla (OPG)

Gorth
I don't understand why this needs a spoiler thread. Yeah, calling it "a spoiler thread" would be a bit of an exaggeration, wouldn't it? “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. Xard
More like it depends. For example if you install Total Realism Vanilla Campaign can't be played unless you unistall the mod. Reason is the fact the mod overrides the vanilla version Edited February 10, 2008 by Xard How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective.
