taks Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 does the board software automatically set the login cookies to expire after a certain time period, rather short actually, like 2 weeks it seems? i'm not suggesting that's a bad idea, and i wish more sites would do that, but this one forces me to re-enter often enough that i thought i would ask. thanks, mark comrade taks... just because.
Tale Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I pretty much never have to re-login. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
Fionavar Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 @ taks: If you are having to re-log on a fairly regular basis, I suspect it may have to do with your ISP and IP being updated. I believe the cookie is partially IP dependent. The universe is change; your life is what our thoughts make it - Marcus Aurelius (161)
Gorth Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I think it is more IP address thing than any expiry date. The powers that be knows, I have to re-login very frequently, but thats because I travel a lot I suspect “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
taks Posted August 10, 2007 Author Posted August 10, 2007 ah, yes, that would explain it at home, but not at work. well, maybe not at work since we may be using a DSL or something. both got reset today, btw. home is a cable modem which re-negotiates IP status regularly. a friend of mine actually refused to go with cable because they would not guarantee a static IP. at work, i'm not sure what we have... taks comrade taks... just because.
