Pop
Check it out. 237 stated motivations for doing the deed, gathered during a University of Texas study. Expression of love is #14. Boredom is #3. Genetic imperative is #180. Intent to punish self is #148. Good for some chuckles. Edited August 3, 2007 by Pop Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality! Meshugger
Judging by some of those answers, humanity is doomed to idiocracy (Joking, eugenics have been proven wrong thousands of times, don't take it too seriously folks) "Some men see things as they are and say why?""I dream things that never were and say why not?"- George Bernard Shaw"Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man."- Friedrich Nietzsche "The amount of energy necessary to refute bull**** is an order of magnitude bigger than to produce it." - Some guy
Pop
It's interesting looking at parts of the list, and the variety of ways people feel about "it". Coercion is #24 and 25, which is scary. Some people do it for the sake of it, a surprising amount of reasons have to do with material gain or status. Also scary, #169. Rosbjerg
I wonder why many were so repetitive. I wanted to get even/I wanted revenge .. there's not a big enough difference between these two to justify including both imo. Fortune favors the bald. I wanted to get even/I wanted revenge .. there's not a big enough difference between these two to justify including both imo. I was thinking that perhaps there might have been some larger context not represented in the article, some subtle difference not expressed. Or perhaps they weren't allowed to lump similar answers together, as that could be considered data manipulation. Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality! Meshugger
Judging by some of those answers, humanity is doomed to idiocracy Erm, what would be the "smart" answer? There's no "right" or "smart" answer when it comes to ones desire to have sex, since it's so attached to our emotions Why do we need a reason to enjoy sex in the first place? Kaftan Barlast
There are alot of these motivations that I really dont understand at all, like "64. I felt sorry for the person." -Having sex with someone out of pity? I suppose this might be a woman-thing. While others are crystal clear: "The person was too "hot" (sexy) to resist." or "23. The person was famous and I wanted to be able to say I had sex with him/her." eugenics have been proven wrong thousands of times, don't take it too seriously folks So you're denying that stupid and ugly parents breed stupid and ugly children? Nope, it's just that the odds are worse compared to the opposite. But there will never be a "land of the stupid", the human gene-pool is too unpredictable for that.
