I don't know for absolutely certain that it occurs over just one day. I don't recall anyone taking a nap and I've watched it recently. The way the movie cuts between scenes makes it seem like a lot of time is passing, but following the narrative there isn't.

From Ripley's dialogue in Aliens, I believe it was meant that the period of time between the birth of the Alien and the flight of the Narcissus was a day. It's highly unlikely that the wakeup, drop to LV-426, investigation of the spacecraft, examination of Kane, birth of the Alien, ensuing chaos and evacuation all took place within 24 hours. In fact, the dialogue of Parker and Brett indicates that it took several hours to repair the ship after landing on LV-426.

Startup idea, a bit like in KoTOR. 3 'factions'. you can be a corporate suit, a colonial marine, an anti-corporate protester, or one of those secessionists.

Those are 4 factions, and one would think doing something like that would require, at least from a RP standpoint, creating 4 different games. That's not to say it can't be done (Arcanum was very impressive in this regard) but at this point it would probably be easier to go the Team Fortress route and have the PC a member of the CMC, but leave the specialties to choice.

The United States of America comprises 64 states and 137 territories. Of these, nine states and 131 territories are extrasolar. Most off-earth territories consist of inhabited space stations and off-world colonies, each ranging in population from a few dozen to several million.

 

 

 

The Bureau of Colonial Administration (BCA) is responsible for maintaining growth and order in the off-world territories. Territorial governors administer executive duties such as law enforcement and other governmental operations. Citizen advisory groups exist in most territories but until a territory achieves statehood no indigenous legislative bodies may be formed. Persons living in off-world territories are protected under the United States Code but many individual rights are subject to sharp limitations due to the extraordinary nature of off-world existence.

 

 

 

The 2115 Simmons v. BCA Supreme Court decision established that the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 does not apply to off-earth territories due to the fragile nature of the governmental infrastructure and lack of immediate federal support. This ruling allows the use of military forces to maintain domestic order in these territories. Each territory is garrisoned by units of the Colonial Marine Corps. Unless otherwise tasked by the Department of Defense, these units are usually available to territorial governors to supplement local law enforcement when necessary. The marines are usually called upon to put down prison riots, insurrections, labor strikes, and other large scale instances of resistance to local authority.

 

 

 

The primary purpose of the off-world territories is to expand the economic influence of the United States . Interstellar colonies are incredibly expensive to build and maintain. Planetary climate modification is often required and can take decades or even centuries to see fruition. Establishment of an off-world colony is typically a joint venture between BCA and one or more corporations, with the BCA contributing most of the capital for the initial founding of the colony. The participating corporation is then granted an exclusive franchise to develop the resources of the colony, with the understanding that all exports must be channeled through the Interstellar Commerce Commission (ICC). This ensures that the fruits of the government

If it's not seen explicitly in the movies, it's either not canon, or doesn't matter.

Timeline i had post its canon (aliens dvd), "every important world colonished in aliens universe" its taken from alien films, colonal marine tactica manual, and some waste scripts from the films...you need them if you want to know "something" about aliens universe

And androids like Ash na Bishop. AVP1 have a nice bunch of andorids, i remember them shooting the shootgun wht only one hand.

They could play a great role in the plot.

Maybe throw in some synthetics rights issues? A bit hackneyed, but valid. Bear in mind that synths are probably one of the few organisms that are sentient but not viable hosts for the aliens. Not sure how that would skew things.

I guess that would be because the synthetics don't have a genome to merge with ... yet. Perhaps newer models might use genetics ...
