Tasaio Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Greetings, I made this topic on the Bio forums. http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/viewt...4&forum=109 Greetings, Some of the following have been fixed -- but by the community. Due to their importance, I would like to request an official change in future patches. - - - UI: - Make the minimap square, not round. At least make it bigger. - Make a separate Mode Bar for bard commands (see xUI) - Make a separate Mode Bap for party commands (Follow, Attack Nearest...) - Make the hotbar longer (shrink the icons) - Make the death screen draggable - Make the journal wider, so that less scrolling is required - - - Charater sheet: - Display value for good/evil scale and lawful/chaotic scale - Display influence on the companion's character sheet (along with scale for comparison) - - - Inventory: - Reduce the inventory from 4 screens to only 2 - Remove the black-square border. It's harder to see the icons. - Each icon should be set against the grey inventory square, nothing else. (see BG and NWN1) - - - List of soundsets: I highly recommend that the new soundsets be moved to the top of the list. In general, new content should be at the top of a list. I also recommend that they be prefixed with "NWN2". This will indicate which soundsets are new. Some players (like me) can't tell. It will also tell people that new soundsets were, in fact, added. (This is a common, yet erroneous complaint.) - - - Artwork: (*This is not "vital", and highly opinionated, but I'd like to know others' thoughts.) - The game launcher (New Game, Toolset...) currently diplays a warlock. No offense to him, but it's not a very flattering picture. It would look much better with symmetrical, engraved stone -- like the in-game main menu. - The updater, likewise, would look much better with symmetrical, engraved artwork -- not a closeup of a hideous beast. - - - I apologize in advance if this list irritates people...in particular, the devs. However, I've seen no one else raise these issues -- and I feel that they must be addressed, officially, soon. What do you guys think of these suggestions? Do you think they are easy enough to implement, that we might see them in a future patch?
Gromnir Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 2 out of the bunch might be making game better for Gromnir: - Make a separate Mode Bar for bard commands (see xUI) - Make a separate Mode Bap for party commands (Follow, Attack Nearest...) 'course reason we wants #2 is 'cause o' the crappy nwn2 ai. is probably easier to give Gromnir a convenient/gamer friendly way to overcome ai than it is to improve ai. the other stuff is so minor (minor for Gromnir,) that we wouldn't gets no measurable increase in enjoyment from nwn2 if such were implemented. HA! Good Fun! "If there be time to expose through discussion the falsehood and fallacies, to avert the evil by the processes of education, the remedy to be applied is more speech, not enforced silence."Justice Louis Brandeis, Concurring, Whitney v. California, 274 U.S. 357 (1927) "Im indifferent to almost any murder as long as it doesn't affect me or mine."--Gfted1 (September 30, 2019)
Deraldin Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 The two that would be at the top of my list are the two that Gromnir singled out. With regards to the others though here are my thoughts. UI Issues: None of these really make any difference to me. Character Sheet: Minor details that I can live without. Visible stats for influence just makes it seem even more gamey. Inventory: The only inventory tweaks I care about is an easier way to sort it. I like the 4 pages though. Soundsets: Having a soundset prefixed with "NWN2" just seems incredibly pointless to me. Artwork: I completely disagree. I like the pictures they have now.
metadigital Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 It's an interesting question; I know that the NwN2 forum over at Bioware has a few community representatives who can act as channels from the community up to Obsidian, so it is entirely possible that the more pragmatic / popular mods could be incorporated into official patches ... providing the authors didn't object, of course. Ossian Studios is working on some secret Project might have to do with this something.
