April 7, 200718 yr Anyhow, despite my enthusiasm for interesting discussions regarding the direction of RPGs, I must say that I've always considered them rather futile. The game industry, like most popular mediums, pays little attention to theory - it is nothing if not practical, and learns only by example. No amount of critique or debate will ever convince the suits to try something new, but when someone creates a truly fad-worthy game that makes non-lineartiy the Next Big Thing, we'll see all that you desire come to pass. Not before. I think it's important to know what makes a good game, and what things should be there to make it better. Especially if you aspire to be a game developer.
April 7, 200718 yr My impression is that it's not the game developers who are in charge... There are doors
April 8, 200718 yr The publishers are large and in charge. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

April 8, 200718 yr The publishers are large and in charge. Which are in return driven by the arrogant and selfish thinking customers. Rain makes everything better.
April 8, 200718 yr Why should consumers be anything but selfish when it comes to shelling out $60 for entertainment? If I didn't feel like being selfish, I'd donate the money to Greenpeace instead. "When is this out. I can't wait to play it so I can talk at length about how bad it is." - Gorgon.
April 8, 200718 yr Games are luxury items, so calling people who buy them selfish seems kinda redundant. Edited April 8, 200718 yr by Hell Kitty
April 8, 200718 yr Eh? People get me wrong. This is aimed towards the retardos that always claim how evil publishers are and yet exactly buy these games that they think are the reason for the decline of quality. Whatever. Don't buy that crap you always criticize so vigorously. Rain makes everything better.
April 8, 200718 yr ^ Whiners like that are such a small minority that they don't really drive anything and are thus irrelevant.
April 9, 200718 yr Why should consumers be anything but selfish when it comes to shelling out $60 for entertainment? If I didn't feel like being selfish, I'd donate the money to Greenpeace instead. *tangent alert* I lost all respect for Greenpeace when the Paul Watson, a co-founder, left after they tried to ban Chlorine.
