I only played as far as finishing the Hotel in Bloodlines, it was awesome. The fact that I didn't play any further is because I'm pathetic at finishing games I start.

I love multi-touch. Granted I've only seen two videos on it, but it's awesome.

So they can use the Doom 3 engine, after all. :)

Nope, self made engine. And lightning is probably the most essential part that the Art team has to consider for Alien.

I remember that even AvP1 had better lightning effects than AvP2.... that's why I think AvP1 probably had the better mood, apart from staying more true to the original Alien character and environment design.

Thinking of it, I'll just go and reinstall AvP1 now. :)

(I know they are making their own engine.)

Are they really making their own engine from scratch?

Apparently not for the Alien RPG.

I blame you.

We are developing our own technology for Project Connecticut (Aliens). I saw our first rendered level with some fancy effects today.

Blargh?

I thought you guys are using the Unreal engine?!?!?

Not for this project, no.

How disappointing. Using an established game engine will save development time on the game, plus any quirks or bugs are usually worked out.

Sega is giving us a reasonable amount of time for the development of our technology. The designers and engineers on the game are all very realistic and level-headed about what we are doing.

Metadigital wins!

And I'm glad they create their own engine. It lets them do and experiment with things they feel might not possible with middleware technology without rewriting major code parts of it.

Since Alien is scheduled for a 2009 release, I wonder if it has already been decided whether a DX9 render pipeline will be supported or not?

Edited by Morgoth

So, is it a next gen engine or one that is still compatible with older hardwares?

DX9 is sort of a given for the current generation of platforms. As for DX10...

... it is...

... a mystery.

Can anyone answer how long this game has already been in development?

About a year I think.

I think, I confused Alien RPG announcement with the SEGA agreement announcement.

Ah thanks, So there is a pretty long development time for this game, right. About 3 years give or take?
