Pidesco Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Whatever happened to action-RPG FPS games, anyway? The popularity of System Shock and Deus Ex should have yielded a slew of imitators that last to today. But the last one (and only that I know of, not counting its predescessor) we got was Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines. The Deus Ex sequel dropped the RPG elements, and I'd bet Bioshock has too. I think both System Shock 2 and Deus Ex were big commercial failures. Musopticon? Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 There was Project: Snowblind, we got hacking and stuff to normal fps'. I didn't notice anything else happening to the genre. A shame, really. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. So let us go and embrace the rustling smells of unseen worlds
Tale Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Project: Snowblind was a Deus Ex multiplayer only sequel that dropped the Deus Ex connections after fan protest. hah "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
Morgoth Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 I just thought to drop in and post some scores Bioshock received....not that the high praise arouses any surprise. Eurogamer 10/10 Gameinformer 10/10 Games Radar 10/10 Other confirmed scores: PC Gamer UK: 95% OXM UK: 10/10 Alternative Press: 5/5 PC Zone: 96% Gamer.tv: 5/5 But we all know how dirty game journalism works so there might STILL BE A CHANCE THAT THE GAME WILL SUCK!!11!one! lol Rain makes everything better.
Sand Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Giving a game a perfect score always raise my concerns. There is no such thing as the perfect game for the creators of the game are always imperfect beings. Murphy's Law of Computer Gaming: The listed minimum specifications written on the box by the publisher are not the minimum specifications of the game set by the developer. @\NightandtheShape/@ - "Because you're a bizzare strange deranged human?" Tale Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 (edited) Perfect score doesn't mean "perfect game." It just means "perfect enough." Like Milla Jovovich. Edited August 16, 2007 by Tale "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
Krookie Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 (edited) A game that earns a 10 doesn't have to be flawless. It's just the bad is overshadowed by the good. And when it's this much good, the bad is hardly noticable. Edited August 16, 2007 by Krookie
Morgoth Posted August 16, 2007 Author Posted August 16, 2007 Or Scarlett Johansson! Rain makes everything better.

Musopticon? Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Like Milla Jovovich. Yes. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. Tale Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Sweet. Steam has Bioshock available for pre-purchase and it has the PC system requirements. I exceed the minimum! "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
Tale Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 yeah so do I You can die. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
Sand Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Define "perfect". Absolutely no flaws whatsoever and that everyone who plays it absolutely loves it without reservation. Tale Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Define "perfect". Absolutely no flaws whatsoever and that everyone who plays it absolutely loves it without reservation. If that's what is required for a 10/10, no game should make it past 7/10. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
Tale Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 It looks like there isn't going to be a PC limited edition of Bioshock. That's kind of dissapointing. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
Sand Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 If that's what is required for a 10/10, no game should make it past 7/10. That is prbably why I would never give a game a perfect score. Tale Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 (edited) That is prbably why I would never give a game a reasonable score. 10/10 isn't meant to say a game is "perfect." It's like 5 stars! 2 thumbs up! Edited August 16, 2007 by Tale "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
Pidesco Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 It looks like there isn't going to be a PC limited edition of Bioshock. That's kind of dissapointing. What do you mean? I already preordered it. Someone told me it's been delisted because it's sold out. So, that's what I mean! It's no longer even listed on Gamestop/EB. Pidesco Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 Oh, that's just if you haven't preordered. And just in the States. I'm still gonna get my baby...
