Arkan
Yeah, BG2+tob I'm trying to start up another game, but I'm getting a wierd graphical glitch that I've not encountered before. I'm trying to run the game in 1280*960 since I've got a huge monitor, but whenever I start the game, the menu screens are all messed up and the mouse leaves a trail. The screen flickers and it appears to be displaying in 640*480. Has/did this happen to anyone else? If so, how did you fix it...or at the very least, how can *I* fix it? Well, it seems to work all right at 1024*768, but why wouldn't it work at the next step up? I've definately got the hardware to handle it. "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta
Spider
Sorry to say this, but I never got BG2 to work on a setting beyond 1024x768. I have tried, but it keeps appearing much like you describe it.
aries101
HI I might have the solutin for you. Try to go in the BG Config program (can be found in start - all programs - Black Isle - BG2 Shadows of AMN (or BG - Throne of Bhal, if you installed this). Now click on the BG congig icon - then under graphics - (at the near end of the menu) - choose display. Click in display - and you will see a split screen: To the left there is headline named Game Resolution. Under this there are two options: 640 * 480 and 800 * 600. Under this there is an option for 'unsupported' mode. And the first option is 1024 * 768. Select this option by checking the box to the left next to it. Note that this might cause the world and characters to look really, reallu small. Whar I do is playing BG2 with a game resolution of 800 * 600. And it works just fine. I hope this works out for you. bye aries 101 Please support http://www.maternityworldwide.org/ - and save a mother giving birth to a child. Musopticon?
^ Dumbnut I've never had any problems with BG 2 graphics. It might be a video memory problem though. Do you have problems with the higher resolutions on other games? kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Tigranes
It's a known issue, especially with ATI cards. I believe in bio's BG2 technical forum they still have a sticky up, it's from a gaming magazine editor who advises you on how to fix it. Pretty much, you must install Catalyst driver without the display driver, then do some more stuff. If you're not ATI, no idea. Every reinstall in a while it happens for me, too - just play at a lower resolution. Some people have never been able to solve it. Ah well, I guess 1024 will have to suffice. Mus, I've never had any problems at higher resolutions with other games... Oh well. "Of course the people don't want war. Spider
I tried to find info on the bioboards (will want to reinstall BG2 myself one of these days) and apart from ATI issues, this could be an issue with refresh rate. Apparently BG2 forces the monitor to use a 60 (or 59) hz refresh rate regardless of what the card drivers say, so a possible solution would be to lower the refresh rate through the drivers as well. Maybe by making a profile specifically for BG2. I'm not sure this'll actually work but could be worth a shot. Other than that I didn't manage to dig up anything and their search function kinda sucks (only 6 months back).
Tigranes
No. Refresh rate bug can be fixed by going to Baldur.ini and editing the line, i believe it's called frequency something.
