kumquatq3 Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 More proof that consoles are the future. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is that what your bunny would say?
Fenghuang Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Remember what friend Sawyer said... that's minimum. Sawyer's always played a straight shooter, so I think we should believe him. Still, even the computer I just built for my mom surpasses those requirements in every way, so I'm not worried. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Awesome. Does your mom plan on playing NWN2 multiplayer? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm honestly surprised no one's made a joke about playing with Eldar's mom yet. Good job guys. RIP

Morgoth Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 From the Bio board Found on GameSpot: Minimum, right now, is looking like a 2.4GHz P4, 512MB of RAM, NVidia 5600Ultra or ATI 9500pro or better and broadband for multiplayer. Feargus Urquhart CEO Obsidian Entertainment, Inc. www.obsidianent.com Whoops, look like I can play this game after all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good, no need to upgrade yet. Ask me again when the Dragon Age specs get out. Rain makes everything better.

Volourn Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 "Ask me again when the Dragon Age specs get out" Heh. Since, it's likely not coming out 'til late 2007 or sometime in 2008, expect it to require major stuff. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Judge Hades Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 More proof that consoles are the future. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How is that proof? I got a PC system that costed less than a $600 that can play Oblivion on mid to high detail.
alanschu Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 (edited) More proof that consoles are the future. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not really, as it has been this way for many, many moons already. EDIT: A whole PC that plays Oblivion at mid-to-high detail for $600??? .... Edited May 16, 2006 by alanschu
mkreku Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 A Playstation 3 will cost $600 too.. ) Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
Judge Hades Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Yep. I get about 15 to 20 FPS in open sky combat which is just fine by me. I got maxed out 6x AA, and high end on all settings except HDR, my card doesn't support it. The only setting I have at minimum is resolution at 640 x 480. Plays quite satisfactory.
alanschu Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 15 to 20 fps.... More willing to sacrifice than me I guess. I get headaches at that framerate. What card do you have though, that does 6xAA with high selected on all other settings, but doesn't support HDR?
Judge Hades Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 (edited) Radeon X700 Pro. And that is combat FPS. In normal gameplay outside and inside I get about 20 to 30 FPS. More if I turn off Bloom. Edited May 16, 2006 by Judge Hades
Darque Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 More proof that consoles are the future. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not really, as it has been this way for many, many moons already. EDIT: A whole PC that plays Oblivion at mid-to-high detail for $600??? .... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not really my point Consoles have a life expectency of what... 6 years? And PC's 3? See where I'm going with this now?
alanschu Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 (edited) I don't find combat affects my FPS too much. It typically chugs around at a constant rate. I just notice it more because my life depends on it more. I typically have no problems with 30, but once it starts dropping below that and I can easily perceive the missed frames, I start getting a headache. It's similar with the 60 Hz monitor refresh rate. You're the first person I have met that said 15 fps is a-ok for them. EDIT: Darque, my point still stands. It's been that way for years. Edited May 16, 2006 by alanschu

Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Judge Hades Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 No, not really. PC has games I want to play and at most consoles have 4 to 5 in their entire lifespan. Like I said before a console isn't worth more than a $100 because you can't use a console for utility work like a PC. When a Console has the full range of capabilities of a PC then I'll go fully console. For now consoles are just for games and I do more than just game.
Llyranor Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Hahahahahaa, 15fps. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)

alanschu Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I agree, Darque was a bit off. I find the typical console life expectancy to be 5 years.
Darque Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 No. Inaccurate information. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And you're basing that on what exactly?
Judge Hades Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Hey, I am just a typical consumer of goods. I look for value when I buy a major electronic device and a PC has more value than a console. Always have and always will.
alanschu Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Curious Hades, what else do you use your computer for?
